Center Director

Connie has been at the Adrian Sylvan Learning Center since it opened in March of 2004. She began as a teacher and has worked her way into the office where she is instrumental to our success. She is a graduate of Adrian College and Siena Heigths University.

Ian Mohler

Instructor

Ian has been an instructor here at the Adrian Sylvan Center for the past 5 years. He truly enjoys working with the kids and is dedicated to the teaching profession. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and basketball. We are fortunate to have him on our team.

Jackie Wittcheck

Instructor

Jackie taught for 33 years for the Monroe School District. Upon retirement, 4 years ago, she realized that she missed the children too much to stay away, so she joined our team here at Sylvan and plays a key role in administering to the children.

Aimee Phipps

Instructor

Aimee has been with the Adrian Sylvan Learning Center for several years. She has many years of Guest Teaching experience as well as Guest Service at a local retailer. This summer she accepted a position to work with the staff and students full time. She is a graduate of Adrian College and enjoys working with children of all ages.

Gay Lewis

Instructor

Gay Lewis has taught all levels of math from grades seven through College Algebra. Most of her career was as a wife, mother of two sons, and math teacher in Germany where she taught in the Department of Defence Schools. She is an active traveler, devoted theater enthusiast, regular reader, and occasionally, a reluctant gardener. She has had extensive experience with special needs students.

Dyan Aniol

Instructor

Dyan's speciality is higher math and science. She is currently teaching Algebra II, Trigonemetry and Pre-Calculus at Onsted High School. She is also busy working on her masters in Math Education at Siena Heights University. In her free time she enjoys watching crime shows on T.V.

Elaine Lautenschager

Instructor

Elaine teaches both Academic Reading and Math Essentials for us. She has been teaching for Hudson Community Schools for 13 years. This year she is teaching 7th/8th grade English. She enjoys cooking, especially desserts. Her specialty is anything with chocolate in the recipe. We are appreciative to all the experience Elaine brings to our Center.

Kellie Nowak

While it's true, Kellie has been busy coaching the Adrian Maples 7th-8th grade girls Volleyball team, she will be back in November to resume her position of tutor extraodinare. She also teaches Math for the Adrian Maples and continue helping us out in that field when she returns. She is very active in sports of all sorts and enjoys spending time with her family.

Jim has been working for the Britton-Macon School District in many capacities. We are glad he came to share his teaching talent with us. Jim specializes in high Math and works primarily with our Homework Support students. He is an invaluable asset to our team.

Martha comes to us with a wealth of teaching experience. We are very fortunate to have her with us. She is very versitile and a wonderful asset to our team.

Carey Wilson

Instructor

Carey has been an excellent addition to our staff. She brings with her experience in teaching in a variety of classroom settings and several different age groups. She enjoys working in her yard and spending time with her husband.

Ashley Brubaker

Instructor

Ashley graduated from Adrian College with a Bachelor of the Arts degree. She is certified to teach 6th through 12th grades in both English and Communication Arts. While completing her associate teaching and a long term sub job at Blissfield High school, Ashley's main emphasis was on considering each students' needs. After completing these opportunities, Adrian College awarded her with the Secondary Education Award, the highest department honor.

Gloria Bortnichak

Instructor

Gloria lives in Onsted with her husband, Pete. They have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Gloria has been an educator for the last 40 years, most recently as the principal at Herrick Park Elementary in Tecumseh, from which she has retired. Gloria enjoys working with students, scrapbooking, walking, dancing, and having fun with her grandchildren and family. Gloria is looking forward to her retirement years and a chance to travel, volunteer in the community and to live life to its fullest.

Debbie Sontag

Debbie just graduated from Michigan State University with a secondary teaching degree in social sciences and is currently a substitute teacher. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends,
reading, and working with the youth group at her church.
