Connie has been at the Adrian Sylvan Learning Center since it opened in March of 2004. She began as a teacher and has worked her way into the office where she is instrumental to our success. She is a graduate of Adrian College and Siena Heigths University.
Ian has been an instructor here at the Adrian Sylvan Center for the past 6 years. He truly enjoys working with the kids and is dedicated to the teaching profession. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and basketball. We are fortunate to have him on our team.
Jackie taught for 33 years for the Monroe School District. Upon retirement, 7 years ago, she realized that she missed the children too much to stay away, so she joined our team here at Sylvan and plays a key role in administering to the children.
Aimee has been with the Adrian Sylvan Learning Center for several years. She has many years of Guest Teaching experience as well as Guest Service at a local retailer. This summer she accepted a position to work with the staff and students full time. She is a graduate of Adrian College and enjoys working with children of all ages.
Gay Lewis has taught all levels of math from grades seven through College Algebra. Most of her career was as a wife, mother of two sons, and math teacher in Germany where she taught in the Department of Defense Schools. She is an active traveler, devoted theater enthusiast, regular reader, and occasionally, a reluctant gardener. She has had extensive experience with special needs students.
Elaine teaches Academic Reading, Math Essentials, and Algebra for us. She has been teaching for Hudson Community Schools for 15 years. This year she is teaching 7th/8th grade English. She enjoys cooking and baking (especially desserts), reading, traveling, and playing with her two very spoiled cats. We are appreciative to all the experience Elaine brings to our Center.
Jim currently works for The Center for Occupational and Personalized Education, an alternative education nonprofit organization in Ypsilanti. We are glad he came to share his teaching talent with us. Jim specializes in high Math and works primarily with our Homework Support students. He is an invaluable asset to our team.
Martha comes to us with a wealth of teaching experience. We are very fortunate to have her with us. She is very versitile and a wonderful asset to our team.
Gloria lives in Onsted with her husband, Pete. They have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Gloria has been an educator for the last 40 years, most recently as the principal at Herrick Park Elementary in Tecumseh, from which she has retired. Gloria enjoys working with students, scrapbooking, walking, dancing, and having fun with her grandchildren and family. Gloria is looking forward to her retirement years and a chance to travel, volunteer in the community and to live life to its fullest.
Debbie graduated from Michigan State University with a secondary teaching degree in social sciences and is currently a part time teacher at Dundee High School. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends,
reading, cooking, and traveling.
With over 32 years of teaching, Barb has taught everything from pre-K to sixth grade in four different states. She retired from Pittsford 2 years ago but realized she wasn't done teaching. She sought out Sylvan because of its reputation. In her spare time she reads, knits, beads, and golfs.
Jennifer is a student at Siena Heights University, studying mathematics and biology. She is currently doing her student teaching this fall at Jonesville High School. In her spare time she enjoys working outside and spending time with friends and family.
Steve graduated from Siena Heights University with a degree in Secondary Education. He majored in Social Studies and minored in Biology. He likes to train his dogs for Frisbee competitions in his free time.
Carrie graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education. She taught 8-12th grade for two years. Carrie enjoys spending time with her family and playing the piano. Her desire is to help students understand and enjoy math.
Amanda specialized in early childhood education. She is a wonderful asset to our Beginning Reading Program. She is currently teaching at Herrick Park Elementary School in Tecumseh. She enjoys spending time with her 1 year old daughter, Madison and husband, Dan.
Melissa had been a valued teacher in all areas of instruction. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family.
