Owner/Executive Director
Scott is the executive director of the Davenport center. He also owns a center in Dubuque, Iowa.
Mary Weideman
Director of Education
Mary began working for Sylvan in February 2009. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary and Early Childhood Education from University of Northern Iowa. Mary enjoys working at Sylvan because she can work to educate children. Outside of Sylvan, Mary likes to travel, be outdoors and work with animals.
Amy M.
Assistant Director of Education
Amy has been working a Sylvan since August 2007. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Knox College. She enjoys working at Sylvan because she loves showing students that learning can be fun and helping them to succeed. Outside of Sylvan, Amy works as a guest teacher and enjoys anything involving music.
Shelley B.
Lead Teacher
Shelley has been working at Sylvan since April 2005. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with an endorsement in reading from MaryCrest. Shelley has a wonderful husband, Tom, and stays home with her 3 children, Regan, James and Mason during the day. She loves teaching because she gets to interact with children and see their progress.
Kelly M.
Teacher
Kelly has worked for Sylvan since May 2008. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a specialization in Math. She enjoys Sylvan because she has the opportunity to work with a few students at a time and is able to provide them with skills to be successful. Outside of Sylvan, Kelly works as an aide for students with special needs and enjoys traveling and spending time with family.
Angie A.
Teacher
Angie started working with Sylvan in May 2008. Angie likes working with children and seeing them make progress in their schoolwork. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a reading endorsement from St. Ambrose University and currently teaches 2nd grade at JFK Elementary School. In her free time Angie likes to scrapbook and spend time with family and friends.

Janice has worked for Sylvan since July 2009. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Augsburg College. She enjoys working with students of all abilities and has 10 years classroom teaching experience. Outside of Sylvan, Janice teaches 3rd grade and enjoys spending time with her husband and their two children.

Sara has worked at Sylvan since August 2008. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, Middle Level Education and Social Studies from University of Northern Iowa. Sara enjoys working at Sylvan because there is such a great group of students and teachers, it is fun to work individually with students to help them learn. She is very close to her family and loves to spend time baking, reading and hanging out with friends.

Sherri has been working for Sylvan since March 2009. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and her Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction from University of Northern Iowa. Sherri is currently a home-school instructor and loves working with students in small groups.

Meghan started working for Sylvan in April 2009. She is completing her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Augustana College. She enjoys working with children and in the theater.

Jacob began working for Sylvan in March 2009. He has his Bachelor of Science in History and Secondary Education. Outside of Sylvan, Jacob is a guest teacher in Davenport schools.
Lindsay P.
Teacher
Lindsay began working for Sylvan in August 2009. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from St. Ambrose University. She enjoys working with children of all ages and takes great satisfaction in helping them to succeed. Outside of Sylvan, Lindsay works at The Red Apple preschool and enjoys spending time with her family.

Merlin started working for Sylvan in February 2009. He has his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Science from Augustana College, and his Master of Science in Education and Administration from Northern Illinois University. He is currently retired.

Brian has worked for Sylvan since September 2001. He has his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Secondary Education from Western Illinois University.
Jackie Chalmers
Teacher
Jackie began working for Sylvan in March 2010. She has her Bachelor of Arts in math and secondary education. Outside of Sylvan, Jackie enjoys playing and listening to music. She also plays the flute, saxophone, and is teaching herself piano. She also loves to read and be outside.
