Bachelor of Accountancy, University of North Dakota. Kari started with Sylvan when it opened in July 1995. She rejoined Sylvan in June 2004. Kari spends much of her time introducing families to Sylvan, answering their questions, and matching students up with a program built just for them! In her free time she enjoys going to coffee, playing scrabble, reading, playing with her young children, and spending time with her extended family.
Maren joined Sylvan in 2006. Prior to working at Sylvan, Maren earned her BS in education from the University of North Dakota and taught in the public school system for five years. With a passion for math and higher level education, Maren has overseen the ACT and college prep programs in addition to other programs Sylvan offers. When asked why she chose Sylvan over the classroom, her answer was simple, “At Sylvan, we teach kids to love to learn!” Away from Sylvan, you will find Maren playing outdoors somewhere with her family, whether it is the mountains of Montana, the lakes of Minnesota, or out for a run somewhere in-between.
Tamara started her Sylvan journey in 2004. She was a teacher/administrative assistant in Michigan for almost a year. From there, she moved to Las Vegas, NV. She stayed with the Henderson Sylvan for a little over 6 years in a Directorship position. In 2011 her family decided to move home to the Bismarck/Mandan area. She immediately joined and began as a Director with the Bismarck team. She earned her Elementary Education degree from VCSU and Business Administration from NDSU. Her favorite opportunities at Sylvan are helping families reach their goals, as well as, watching students’ transform with their new found success and confidence! In her spare time, she loves being with her family and playing with her two kids. There she worked working families and community resources to build skills in her students. Her favorite part of teaching is figuring out strategies that work for each individual student so they can feel empowered by school instead of discouraged.

Hello, my name is Suzanne and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In college I minored in vocal music and still hold a passion for singing and the performing arts. However, nothing quite beats a good book or seeing a movie with family. I tutored college students at UWSP while getting my degree, and I really enjoyed the one-on-one work. It's nice to get to know students personally so I look forward to tutoring with Sylvan.

I graduated from St. Marys High School and then attended college in Helena, MT. After graduating there with my degree in Elementary Education I lived in Mississippi for 3 years while my husband obtained his masters degree. We moved back to Bismarck in 2012 and now live on the farm raising cattle of our own. I love working at Sylvan during the summer and school year. The staff and students are fabulous.

When I am not teaching, I am a mother first. Like many mothers, my evenings consist of; attending the current season of sport practice, attending dad’s sporting events, doing homework, cooking, cleaning the house, and raising children. The things I enjoy doing in my other spare moments are; scrapbooking, playing with my children, and laughing at the funny things they say and do. As a family, we enjoy camping, traveling, and doing activities together even if it is as simple as taking a walk together or watching a movie.
