Yes, I would recommend Butte Sylvan Learning to my family, friends and even teachers.
"Kristel Callahan and her staff have had a significant, positive impact on my two daughters, Sarah (10) and Jenna (5).
Sarah has been attending Sylvan on a regular basis for 4 years, since the summer before she began 1st grade. I enrolled her in Sylvan to make sure that she had the best possible foundation before she entered the public school system. I consider Kristel my primary professional resource for recommendations and assistance when I am dealing with the many situations that arise when Sarah has academic difficulty.
For example, Kristel attended a recent meeting at school with me to address the difficulty Sarah is having with our school system's chosen reading curriculum. Sarah is an excellent reader, but resists completing her assignments in a timely manner in the classroom. The curriculum puts significant emphasis on timing the students and the grading system is based on correct answers, but also considers incomplete questions to be "wrong". Since the curriculum grade was not reflecting that Sarah understands the concepts presented in the lessons, her grades have not been the best indicator of Sarah's progress in school. Having Kristel at the meeting was very helpful to me as a parent and she had additional suggestions for us when we were brainstorming ideas on how to make it easier for Sarah to complete the assignments and have her reading grade be a true reflection of her ability. This was a service Sylvan provided outside of the hourly attendance.
Jenna has just started to attend Sylvan this summer; I know the guidance the teachers are providing her is what she needs to do well in Kindergarten this fall. Sylvan's emphasis on making any educational experience at the center a positive one really has been the reason my kids continue to attend 4 hours a week. The services we receive could not be a better value! The Sylvan store is a constant source of tangible rewards that the kids love to earn while they learn! The internet services like Book Adventure and the new monthly coupons are something that the kids and I are really excited about also.
The Butte Sylvan is also very visible in the community and schools as a supporter of education not only in advertisements and support of worthwhile programs like the Bringing Up Grades, but I have also seen Kristel at ceremonies and gatherings at the many individual schools in our community. I believe her participation is a reflection of her genuine commitment to education not only on a professional level, but on a personal level as well. This has really stood out to me; in my mind it elevates the Butte Sylvan Franchise to a level of excellence that could not be achieved without her. She really loves her work and makes sure every child, parent, and teacher has a positive experience when they interact with anyone from the Butte Sylvan Center.
I know the Sylvan Franchise success was founded on creating a positive environment for the students enrolled there - whether it be for 4 months or 4 years. There is no doubt in my mind that the level of service Kristel and her staff provide for their customers has been and will continue to be the reason customers are recommending Sylvan to their friends and family."
