Sylvan diagnostic assessments...discounted for life

Whether targeting specific higher math skills as part of an "enrichment" plan for your student, or identifying the reading and language skill gaps that may be holding your student back, Sylvan's diagnostic assessments provide the detailed information you need to begin helping your child.

Our comprehensive academic assessments for reading, writing, math and study skills will show where your student is secure, while isolating the exact concepts and skills that need attention.

In order to make our services available to more families, we're offering these assessments at the following rates.

Any 1-2 assessments for $99
Any 3-4 assessments for $160

* Any student who enrolls after paying for these assessments, will be eligible to receive diagnostic test services at no additional cost through 12th grade.

We've made the best local ACT preparation program even better!

We typically start our new ACT students by having them take a free practice exam, (including the writing section), here at the center. We will score the test, meet with you and your student to discuss the results and identify specific areas of strength as well as areas that might need improvement. With everyone's input, we'll outline a plan and time line that takes advantage of the the tools and strategies that we know have been successful.

This is typically a lively discussion that covers improving scores, time lines for college applications, strategies for various schools, and how to insure that your student is prepared to do well once they get accepted.

Since the ACT is offered 6 times a year, we have ACT prep classes going all year round. The most popular approach combines a small study group format with our terrific on-line test prep application. Each study group, (4-6 students), meets with their teachers for 2 sessions a week during the 6 weeks leading up to the actual ACT test date. They will spend a total of 24 hours together covering speed reading, time management, process of elimination strategies, etc. in a very interactive format that allows every student to have their questions answered and discussed. Our students have had great success with this format.

To insure that each student receives enough help on their individual needs, every student will have access to his/her unique on-line video study guide and planning calendar. By continuously analyzing each student's answers, this powerful application prioritizes and teaches the specific concepts that will give that student the best ACT scores. Consistent, independent practice using this on-line study guide will greatly improve the odds of achieving a higher ACT score.

The study group format includes 12 teacher led sessions, access to the on-line application for 12 months, ACT workbooks, three practice exams, plus speed reading training.

We also offer a format for students wanting more scheduling flexibility or more individualized instruction for their learning style and pace. The curriculum, on line test prep access, and length of program is the same but the student is being taught more one-on-one with his/her ACT teacher.

As you know, the ACT is just one step on your child's journey into and through college. If you'd like to have a fun and meaningful discussion with your student about these topics, just call us...we'd be happy to help.
