Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Betsy Thomas
Center Director
Betsy is a graduate of Western Illinois University and an Illinois certified teacher. She taught third grade prior to joining Sylvan and has worked with the Sylvan organization in several positions in the Chicago area for more than fourteen years. In her current role Betsy is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the Gurnee center.
Teaching Staff
About our Staff
Our Gurnee teaching staff combines a commitment to the success of our students with over a HUNDRED YEARS of combined Sylvan and classroom experience! Our tutors are all State of Illinois certified teachers. Over 75% of our staff have advanced degrees in their fields. Their experience includes special education, reading, higher level math, high school science, high school history, elementary, and secondary education. Our students benefit from their ability to address their individual concerns with dedication and expertise.
