Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Amanda Sevcik
Director of Education
Amanda holds a secondary education degree from Lewis University and before joining the Barrington center, she taught high school Mathematics for 2 years, as well as taught at another Sylvan in IL. She is an experienced Sylvan educator and most recently has worked as an instructor prior to being promoted to the Director of Education position. Now working with parents and students in the Barrington location, Amanda is responsible for leading the development of all academic programs, in addition to the recruitment, training and development of all teaching staff. She subscribes to a basic everyday approach "to do what is in the best interest of our students." This important educational philosophy also represents the primary mission of the Sylvan Learning Center of Barrington.

Staff Profile
Our Barrington teaching staff combines a commitment to the success of our students with over a HUNDRED YEARS of combined Sylvan and classroom experience! Our tutors are certified teachers in addition to being fully trained in Sylvan programs. Over 75% of our staff have advanced degrees in their respective fields including special education, reading, higher level math, elementary and secondary education. Our students benefit from their ability to address individual academic concerns with dedication and expertise.
