Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Michelle Tack
Center Director
Michelle received her degree in architectural designs from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1989. After graduation, she moved from design to marketing. With the birth of the first of three children, she utilized her skills of marketing and design and created her own jewelry business. In addition to running her home studio company for 15 years, she managed the ages and stages of her children's development and added teaching workshops catechesis, ministry leadership, and sports coaching to her resume. She joins us after several years as the St. Patrick Church "Here I Am Lord" conference coordinator.
Callie Masten
Director of Education
Callie received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. She earned her teaching certificate at the University of Texas in Arlington, Texas. She has 21 years of teaching experience in the public school system. Callie has been an instructor for Sylvan in Texas and Illinois. In 2002, she accepted the position of Director of Education in St. Charles. She transfered to the Alqonquin Sylvan Center in June of 2008. She was promoted to area Director of Education in June of 2009 and works in both the Algonquin and South Elgin centers.

Executive Director
Janet received her undergraduate degree in elementary education/special education from Eastern Illinois University and her Masters in Education Administration from National-Louis University. She taught 12 years in the Elgin Public School System. She has been the Executive Director with Sylvan since 1988.
