ACT Prep
"Anastasia (our daughter) initially took the ACT test during her sophmore year of High School. She had no tutoring or guidance for her first sitting, and her scores were just OK (23 cumulative, but an 18 in Math and a 21 in Science).
She re-took the exam in September of her Senior Year (September, 2011) after having the benefit of 8 hours of Sylvan tutoring at the Wheaton Center. We were so pleased with the improvement in her scores! Her Math score increased from an 18 to a 23, which contriubuted to a new cumulative of 25!! Sylvan help hern focus not just on subject matter and material, but also on test taking strategies.
But it gets better: On December 10th, our daughter re-rook the ACT test. Her prep included reviewing Sylvan materials independently as well as re-visiting strategies she had tried in September. Results: Reading 31, Math 25, Science 24, and English 22, with a new cumulative of 26. She actually finished every section of the test, including all of the Math problems).
Sylvan gives teens a practical and useful approach to SAT and ACT testing. Our daughter understood the instruction and applied the knowledge directly to the test. Her sessions were coordinated with the actual test taking dates in order to keep the knowledge fresh in her mind. We will be forever grateful we took the chance to call Sylvan and go to the Wheaton Center. The improvement in her self confidence - the doors now opening to her with her test results - we have the Wheaton Sylvan to thank for working with our Anastasia.
