Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Emily Conner
Center Director
Emily has been working with Sylvan since 2007. She is a graduate of Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Elementary Education. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and scrapbooking. Emily's favorite thing about Sylvan is getting to see students succeed!
Julie Davis
Teacher
Julie graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and Special Education. She started working with Sylvan in 2008. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family. Julie's favorite thing about Sylvan is getting to know all of the students and getting to watch them grow!
Sarah Johnson
Teacher
Sarah graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelors in Public Relations and High School English. She has been with Sylvan since 2008. In her free time, she enjoys reading and cooking. Sarah's favorite thing about Sylvan is that it gives her the opportunity to work with younger students as well.
Christina Smith
Teacher
Christina graduated form Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor's in History Education. She has been with Sylvan since 2008. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching TV. Christina's favorite thing about Sylvan is the students.
Brian Ray
Teacher
Brian graduated from the US Military Academy with a Bachelor's in Mathematics. He has been with Sylvan since 2008. In his free time, he enjoys working out math problems. Brian's favorite thing about Sylvan is the students.
Jennifer Mokos
Teacher
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a bachelor's in physics and her master's in education. She began working with Sylvan in 2008. In her free time, she enjoys reading, sewing, and playing the violin. Jennifer's favorite thing about Sylvan is helping students understand new concepts-the moment when it all "clicks" is very rewarding!
Jean Forst
Teacher
Jean graduated from Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois with her bachelor's and master's in education. She joined the Sylvan team in 2008. In her free time, she enjoys reading, running, and cooking. Jean's favorite thing about Sylvan is that we have a wide variety of educational materials for students to use, and she loves helping students.
Kenji Armstead

Kenji is new to Sylvan and we're excited to have her! She has her B.A. in Elementary Education and her Master's in Instructional Technology. In her free time, she enjoys sitting in a comfy chair and reading a good book.
Brandy Baker
Teacher
Brandy has been with Sylvan since May 2007. She is a graduate of Eureka College with her B.S. in Accounting. Brandy is one of our higher-level math teachers here at Sylvan. In her free time, she enjoys learning how to bake wheat-free. Her favorite thing about Sylvan is working with kids.
