Tammy started her career at Sylvan in 1991 as a part-time teacher in Rockford, IL. She moved back to St. Louis in 1993 after getting married and was a Director of Education and Center Director of the Creve Coeur & Crestwood centers for 7 years. She now owns 3 centers including Ballwin,Chesterfield and St Peters since 2001. Tammy has a BS in Mathematics and Secondary Education, as well as a BA in Psychology. She has 3 children-Kaylee, Olivia & Seth.
Karen is a seasoned educator holding her Master's of Education/Administration with emphasis in Special Education from William Woods University and Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Central Methodist University. Karen has 8 years of experience as a special education teacher and also served as an on-site coordinator for an after-school tutoring program in Farmington, MO. She loves teaching, and especially loves helping to be an advocate for families having students with special needs. In her recreational time, Karen loves reading, decorating and spending time with her dogs.
Sarah received her elementary education degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She has been working for Sylvan since 2005. She keeps busy with six kids at home, but still makes time for reading, biking, and swimming.
Christy holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a minor in math. Before coming to Sylvan, she taught middle school math and science for ten years. In addition, she was the math coordinator at her last school, making sure that all students were learning math according to state and federal standards.
In her free time, she cheers on the St. Louis Blues and spends time with her husband, three kids, and two dogs.
Susan received her B.A. in Education from Washington University. She received her M.Ed. in reading from Webster University. She has forty-five additional hours in reading, social studies, and math. She taught for thirty-five years, substitute taught for four, and worked as a reading instructor for five. Susan enjoys making and collecting jewlery as well as reading and being around children.
JoAnn has been a Sylvan teacher at the Ballwin center since 2006 and prior to that at the Crestwood Sylvan since 1997. JoAnn loves teaching and has been an educator at a private school for 24 years.
Bill Rase holds a BA in Business and Masters in Education from Lindenwood University. He is employed in the Francis Howell School District and tutors after-school for Ace it! Tutoring a Sylvan Program.
Kathryn graduated in May 2010 with her B.A. in Psychology and then in December 2010 with her Masters in Elementary Education, both of which are from Truman State University. She has always loved working with children, and looks forward to a life long career of teaching and impacting children’s lives. She also enjoys reading, exercising, attempting to cook and bake, playing with her dogs, and being around family and friends.
Pam graduated, from Truman State University, in May 2009 with her B.S. in Psychology and then in May 2010 with her Masters in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. She loves working with beginning learners and looks forward to furthering her education in Early Childhood. She also enjoys reading, movies, baking, and creating projects for her classroom.
Ed has his bachelor’s degree in Theatre from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is certified in Speech and Theatre, English and Middle School Language Arts. Ed completed his student teaching at Seckman High School in the Fox District in the spring of 2011. He is currently working as a substitute teacher.
In his spare time, Ed enjoys volleyball, karaoke, and writing.
Brian graduated with a B.S. in Math, with minors in Physics, Computer Science, and German, from Lincoln University. He is known to bring his calculus textbook on vacation, just for fun.
He first started tutoring math to fellow students in high school at Parkway West, and hasn’t stopped since. He has helped run a Math Olympiad group here in St. Louis and has volunteered for MathCounts.
Brian plays acoustic guitar at home for his wife and three girls, and electric bass for his church’s worship band. He enjoys jogging, computer games, and is a huge fan of The Simpsons tv show.
