""My son, Jonathan, has been attending Sylvan in Washington, MO, since July 30, 2002. On his progress report test six months later he raised his grade in reading by 2.7 levels and his math by 4.2 levels. Before, Jonathan wouldn't raise his hand in class to read and was very reserved. He is now expressing himself at Sylvan and in school. His teacher at school says that Jonathan has come out of his shell and that he is now reading out loud in class. "One of the harder things in life is seeing your child(ren) struggle through situations in their lives. There are situations that are natural and necessary but when you can't do anything to help them, it is then when you feel the pain most. Our daughter had trouble comprehending things she would read. She had trouble putting into words her thoughts. When it came to schooling, my husband and I would do pretty well tag teaming on their school work and getting them through most things but when it came to comprehension, how do you help your child know what they had just read? She was getting ready to enter Jr. High and we were very nervous about her getting the one on one she would need. We turned to Sylvan for help. Our daughter began to have self confidence and assurance in the work that she was completing at school and at Sylvan. The one on one rapport our daughter received at Sylvan gave her the extra push she needed to become a confident student. Our daughter is now getting A's and B's and has even been advanced to a higher level math in the middle of the school year! We are thankful that we were able to send her to such a specialized facility where her own special learning disabilities were taken care of.
