Chris Tedder
Regional Director
Chris was a 1987 graduate of Waterloo High School. She earned her degree at Southwestern Illinois College and went on to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. She is proud to have worked with the Waterloo School district and Child's World Preschool program. Most recently, she managed a family owned local business. Chris believes education to be a priority in the lives of our youth and looks forward to helping students achieve only their BEST!
Kelly Van Deven
Regional Director of Education
Kelly is a 2001 graduate of the Univ. of Kansas with a degree in Elementary and Middle Education, specializing in Math and Social Studies. Kelly taught 8th grade algebra and geometry for 2 years. Kelly started her journey with Sylvan as a teacher in 2004, became the Assistant Director of Education in 2005 and joined the Waterloo team as the Director of Education in 2007. Kelly finds witnessing the academic growth firsthand and getting to know each student as an individual to be very rewarding.
Dave Bellot
Teacher
Dave is a graduate of Cameron University. Dave teaches Reading and Math with emphasis on the upper grade level math classes. Dave joined the Sylvan staff in December 2005.
Joann Ilges
Teacher
Joann graduated from St. Louis University and has been a classroom teacher for 26 years. Joan currently teaches fourth grade at St. Simon School. Joann has been a Sylvan educator since 1995. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Joann facilitates the Sylvan Beginning Reading teacher training.
Bonnie Oberkirsch
Classroom Assistant and Teacher
Bonnie earned her Masters degree from Missouri Baptist University in 2005. She currently teaches in the Lindbergh School District. Bonnie joined our Sylvan staff in September 2005.
Donna Pesek
Teacher
Donna graduated from the Univeristy of Missouri and has worked for the Kirkwood, Lindbergh and Special School District. Donna joined the Sylvan staff in January 2006. Donna is in charge of updating student programs and preparing student lessons each day.
Jan Schutte
Teacher
Jan has been teaching elementary school for many years. She currently teaches kindergarten at St. John the Baptist in South St. Louis.
Bonnie Westerman
Teacher
Bonnie joined our Sylvan family in May of 2006. She is a native of Colorado. She has taught English in South Korea, children with special needs in Colorado and is presently teaching pre-school here in St.Louis. Bonnie enjoys reading and exploring St.Louis when she is not teaching.
Chris Whitley
Classroom Assistant and Teacher
Chris is a graduate of St.Louis University and currently teaches 3rd grade at St.John the Baptist school. Chris joined the Sylvan staff in April 2000.
