Sylvan's tutors teach skills that last a lifetime. We help students learn how to become self-motivated and achieve independence; above all else, we enable them to approach school — and life — with confidence.
We also maintain Sylvan tutoring special offers and seasonal promotions that make getting your child on the road to success easier.
The Sylvan Learning Center in Tyler has received the 2010 and 2011 Sylvan National Gold Award. This award recognizes centers whose educational services, staff and facilities exceed Sylvan’s national standards for service and quality. The Tyler Sylvan was recognized and received their awards at national conference the past two years. The awards came with the following statement: "Families can be assured of a top notch educational experience when attending the Tyler Sylvan center. This center consistently demonstrates Sylvan’s highest standards in the delivery of educational programs.”
Sylvan Learning has approximately 900 centers located throughout North America and is the nation’s leading provider of in-center and live, online tutoring for students of all ages, grades and skill levels. Sylvan’s certified teachers provide instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, study skills, SAT®/ACT Prep, state test-prep and adult test-prep. Sylvan’s curriculum is based on State and National Standards and corresponds to the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the National Council of Teachers of English standards.
Sylvan staff members work closely with the Tyler community, including partnerships with local schools and organizations. With a convenient location on Broadway just inside the Loop, the Tyler center has helped local families meet their educational goals for over 20 years.
We are currently having a special offer on the pricing of our programs. We call it the Sylvan Economic Relief Plan. This is how it works. First, call the center and set up the diagnostic assessment. A one subject assessment is $100 and a two subject assessment is $150. We will ask for a $50 non-refundable deposit with a Visa, Master Card, or Discover that goes toward the assessment cost. The balance is due on the day of the assessment. Second, during the Enrollment Conference, which is when all business decision makers meet the next business day after the assessment, we will go over the results of the assessment and talk about what we will do to fix the problem. If you are ready to proceed with the recommended program, then we will refund the cost of the assessment and give you a tuition discount of 10% off for paying monthly ($45/hr) or 20% off for prepaying the program ($40/hr). This is a great offer and during these tough economic times we want to help as many families as we can help their children.

The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded a study on the preparedness of American students for college after graduating high school. The results are eye-opening to say the least.
Just some highlights:
34% of students entering college need to take remedial courses
43% of students at two-year schools
29% of students at four-year schools
An estimated $2.3 – $2.8 billion is spent annually to remediate these students

The staff at Sylvan is a place that students feel welcome and safe. Many of our students ask their parents if they can come to Sylvan to receive the help they desperately need. When you come to the Tyler Sylvan you can not help but feel the wonderful positive energy. Everyone here truly loves their job and we want to see families receive help. We know that Sylvan works! We see the incredible progress that students make here every day!
Sylvan strives to achieve, as the ultimate piece of the student's performance puzzle, an increase in confidence. This new found confidence will last a lifetime and allow them to become the best they can be. One of our motivational tools to increase confidence is through earning tokens. When we see behavior we want exhibited, then students earn tokens. The students have a checkbook and ledger and an account here at Sylvan. Every hour students add up their earned tokens and "deposit" them into their accounts. When they "earn" enough tokens then they "buy" toys, movie tickets, Skate Plex tickets, and Visa gift cards. This is a great way to motivate students into desirable behaviors.
Come to the Tyler Sylvan and become a WOW Student. WOW stands for Working On Wisdom. WOW students are hard working, motivated students who earn the chance to win a wonderful prize and to be recognized on our WOW Wall of Honor! Call or come by the center today to learn how to become a WOW student!
