Bill is an Eagle Scout and has degrees in Psychology and Kinesiology and Motor Behavior. Bill has taught at the University of Houston and Texas A&M Kingsville. He has also worked at NASA researching the absence of gravity on perception. Bill has also had the privilege of working with Collegiate, Professional, and Olympic athletes as a performance enhancement coach. Bill grew up in Tyler and moved back home to take care of family.
Lakeitha has been working at Sylvan Learning Center in Tyler since September 2004. She graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 2005 and is currently in school to become a Pharmacy Technician. Her love for kids makes her job extremely enjoyable! She quotes: “I love it here!”
Nate worked at Sylvan Learning in Tyler since 1994. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1964 with a degree in theater Arts and English. Previous to teaching at Sylvan, Nate taught secondary school English in the Charter Oak School District in Covina, California for 25 years. Previous to that he taught in New Zealand, Nevada, and Idaho. Nate taught at sylvan for almost 20 years. He enjoys teaching a variety of subjects including reading, math, study skills, writing and SAT/ACT Prep classes. His hobbies include painting, where he won multiple ribbons in oil painting, reading, music and especially retirement.
Nirali has worked at Sylvan of Tyler since October of 2012. She is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she obtained a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Nirali has one year of tutoring experience working as an Academic and Beginning reading instructor for Sylvan Learning, serving the Tyler School District. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including Beginning Reading. In her free time, Nirali enjoys cooking a variety of food and traveling around the world.
My name is Karen Phillips. I have worked at Sylvan Tyler for the past 5 years. I earned my teaching degree at The University of Texas At Tyler and have been teaching for 15 years. I currently teach first grade at Clarkston Elementary in Tyler, Texas. I feel blessed every day to have the opportunity to teach children.
Lisa Hughes has worked at Sylvan of Tyler since October 2012. She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler, where she obtained a degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Reading. Lisa has been an educator for 28 years. She has one year of tutoring experience working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning, serving the Tyler location. Lisa enjoys teaching and is certified through 8th grade. In her free time, Lisa enjoys reading and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Shannon, are the proud parents of six daughters ranging in age from 15-25.
Tanya Nash has worked at Sylvan Learning Tyler since 2007. She is a graduate of U T Tyler with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. In addition to tutoring at Sylvan Tyler, Tanya teaches at John Tyler High School in Tyler and has worked for Tyler ISD for five years. Tanya has taught Social Studies, Geography, World History, US History and Government in the Special Education Department for Tyler ISD. She has taught at Sylvan Tyler for six years. Tanya's hobbies include missionary trips with her church, volunteering and reading.
Maria Qureshi has worked at Sylvan of Tyler, Texas since July, 2013. She is a graduate of University of Texas at Tyler, where she obtained a degree in Education. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Tyler, Maria was a substitute teacher in Tyler and Whitehouse ISD and worked there for four years. Maria has 4 months of tutoring experience working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning, and four years serving the Tyler and Whitehouse school districts. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including reading, math, science, and social studies. In her free time, Maria enjoys reading books.
Beckie Miller started working in the Tyler Sylvan location on December 31, 2013. She graduated from the University of Texas in Tyler on December 14, where she obtained a degree in Education, with certifications in Special Education and ESL. Previous to Sylvan Learning Center of Tyler, Beckie was a Special Education Instructional Assistant for Whitehouse ISD for six years. Beckie has a passion for teaching students to read and write, while keeping a smile on her student’s faces. In her free time, Beckie enjoys reading, scrap booking, walking and most of all spending time with friends.
Morgan Kilpatrick began working at Sylvan of Tyler since the beginning of 2014! She is a graduate of The University of Texas at Tyler, where she obtained a degree in Psychology as well as a Masters in School Counseling. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Tyler, Morgan Kilpatrick was a Substitute Teacher in Tyler and worked in the Accessibility office at UTTyler. Morgan is new to the Sylvan team. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including English Language Arts, Reading, Math, and Sociology. In her free time, Morgan enjoys being creative and is an amateur artist. She also enjoys reading, animals, and writing.
Cynthia Carter has worked at Sylvan of Tyler, Texas since 2009. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler, where she obtained a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a master's degree in math/science. While working at Sylvan Learning of Tyler, Cynthia was a high school math teacher in Brownsboro ISD. Cynthia has many years of tutoring experience working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning and serving the Brownsboro ISD. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including math, chemistry and physics.
I have been teaching Math and Science for going on two years at Sylvan Tyler. I graduated at UT Tyler with my Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified to teach K-6 General Studies and 4-8 Math and Science. A little about me: I enjoy music, Board gaming, and Cheesy 80’s movies. I am a synthesizer enthusiast and will one day write that novel that has been floating around in my brain for years. Oh, and I love helping kids!!!!
Torri Draganov has worked at Sylvan of Tyler since January 2014. She is a graduate of University of California San Diego and University of California Irvine where she obtained BS and MS degrees in Chemistry. Previous to Sylvan Learning of Tyler, Torri was a Chemistry professor in Southern California and has been teaching chemistry for 4 years. Torri has 8 years of tutoring experience and is now working as an instructor for Sylvan Learning, serving the Tyler ISD. She enjoys teaching a variety of subject areas, including math, science, the ACT and the SAT. In her free time, Torri enjoys traveling, scuba diving, rock climbing and all things outdoors.
