Mrs. Denise Luckey joined the Sylvan Learning Center (Southlake) Team in early 2004. Mrs. Luckey is a favorite of so many of our students--past and present! She and her husband have two beautiful daughters and one grandson! One of her daughters, Kristin, also works as a Director for the metroplex Sylvans! Denise has taught in the 4th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade classrooms in the New Jersey and Illinois school systems before coming to Texas in 1985. Denise holds three credentials: New Jersey; Illinois; and Texas. A graduate of Carlow College in Pittsburg, PA, with a B.S. in Psychology and Education, Denise values the family unit, each student as an individual, and the educational process as a whole. She keeps current on all educational issues. Denise's passion is to build self esteem and motivation through enabling students of all ages to achieve their academic potential. She is responsible for the educational integrity of Sylvan Southlake's programs and delivery of services. She personally case-manages our student’s entire curriculum, and oversees the instructors and their training. If you haven't met "Miss Denise", stop by today and say hello!
The instructors that tutor at our Sylvan Southlake location are carefully screened and selected. Each candidate goes through a prescreen process in which we filter out teaching credentials that match the student body we have, personality types, and integrity. Then, a series of interviews takes place with our Directors to look for teachers who have not only the skill to teach and explain, but have a passion for building confidence in their students. Our staff must uphold the highest academic standards, but also must maintain personal integrity. We are proud of the family we've created; they are trained well and work hard to ensure that each and every student has a positive experience at Sylvan Southlake. During your intake conference, the Director will work with you to determine which instructors will work best with your PreK, primary, elementary, middle, or high school age student.
Becky Thorne joined the Sylvan Southlake Team in April of 2009. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from UTA and has completed some post graduate work in business and psychology.... Becky's commitment to Customer Service, Education, and passion for kids is completely evident in her work. She will help you with your scheduling and accounting needs.
