Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Jessica Villarreal, B.A, M.A.
Center Director
Jessica, a graduate from St. Mary's University, has her M.A. in Marriage & Family Counseling, and her B.A. in Elementary Education. Jessica taught for 6 years before joining the Sylvan team as a tutor. Jessica has been privilaged to serve as a Program Coordinator, helping to administer tests to new students, Director of Education, helping to develop individualized programs for each child, and meeting with parents and school administrators, and as a Center Director. She enjoys collaborating with parents and students in setting academic goals. As a Center Director, some of her main responsibilities are overseeing the center operations, and conferring with parents.
Lurlene Adams, B.A, M.A
Director of Education
Lurlene Grayer Adams received her BA degree in English and her MA in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist certification. Her roles as an educator included: lead teacher, department chair, National Honor Society sponsor, writing trainer, and campus instructional coordinator. Her position as a Director of Education allows her to do what she enjoys most - facilitating the academic success of students.
Susan Kaarlsen, B.S, M.A.
Director of Education
Having received her M.A. in Elementary Education, and B.S. in Home Economics, Susan has been with Sylvan for 8 years. Having been a former Center Director in New York, and an educator for more than 25 years, Susan brings her love of teaching and her enjoyment of assisting students as a Director of Education! Susan enjoys meeting with parents and individualizing the programs to meet each students unique needs!
