Mike Sullivan
Executive Director and Owner
ABOUT MIKE:
Mike is husband to Cindy and father of Matthew, 23, and Michael, 20.
EDUCATION:
B.A. in Political Science from Hardin Simmons University.
EXPERIENCE:
Former board member of AISD Board of Trustees, Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Meals on Wheels, & the Better Business Bureau. He is the President of the Board of the Serenity House and is also a board member of Pregnancy Resources of Abilene. He has owned this Sylvan Learning Center since May 2000. He also has owned the Sylvan in Lubbock since Nov. 2002 and the co-owner of Wichitia Falls Sylvan since July 2008.
Kristina Buschow
Director of Education
About Kristina: She is from Mineral Wells, TX.
Education: Kristina graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education in December of 2005.
Experience: Kristina started as a tutor at the Sylvan in Lubbock in January of 2006. She then became the Director of Education there in April of 2006. Kristina transferred to the Abilene center in October of 2007. She teaches, Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Math Essentials, Study Skills, and Academic Writing.
Johanna Morrow

ABOUT JOHANNA:
Johanna is married to CJ, a computer programmer for Rockwell Collins. She also has a daughter, Jillian.
EDUCATION:
B.A. in Secondary Education with a specialization in English from McMurry University.
EXPERIENCE:
Johanna taught 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Reading for 2 years in Dallas. She started working at a Sylvan Learning Center in Dallas in 2004. She became Director of Education here in Abilene in October of 2005.
Pam A Austin

ABOUT PAM:
Pam is wife to Dennis and Mother to Elizabeth, Bobby, and Benton. She enjoys the opportunity to work with multiple ages here at Sylvan.
EDUCATION:
B.S. in Elementary Education
M.E. Reading Specialist
Endorsements in Early Childhood, Bilingual Ed., Gifted Ed.
EXPERIENCE:
School teacher, 3 years with AISD, 1 year with FWISD. She has taught private kindergarten for more than 18 years at Pioneer Drive CDC. She began teaching at Sylvan in 1998.
Nole A Hadaway
Instructor
ABOUT NOLE:
Nole comes to us from Haskell, TX. He teaches Government & Economics.
EDUCATION:
B.A. in History from Texas Tech University.
State certified composite social studies teacher.
EXPERIENCE:
Taught two years with Fort Stockton High School (1996-1998).
Began teaching at Wylie High School in 1998.
Joined our Sylvan staff in 2000.
Sarah McMillon
Instructor
ABOUT SARAH:
Sarah is the mother of Shellie and Alison and wife to James.
EDUCATION:
BBA in Accounting from McMurry University.
State Certified in Special Education.
EXPERIENCE:
Taught for more than 8 years in Abilene ISD.
Joined the Sylvan staff in 2000.
Judith A Brentz
Instructor
ABOUT JUDITH:
Judith is mother to 5 children, 13 foster children, and grandmother of 5.
EDUCATION:
B.A. in Chemistry and Biology with a Minor in History all from Hardin Simmons University.
She is certified as a Secondary teacher.
EXPERIENCE:
Judith has taught for 41 years, and is in her 36th year at Sweetwater High School. She joined our Sylvan staff in 2000.
Connie Duncan
Instructor
About Connie: Connie is an Abilene native. She has 2 sons. Marcus is 27 and Joel is 16. Marcus is married and lives in Plano while Joel attends Abilene High.
Education: Connie received her Bachelors and Masters degrees from Abilene Christian University. Connie has a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. She also has certificates in Kindergarten, Early Childhood Education, Handicapped Child, Mentally Retarded, and Bilingual/ESL.
Experience: Connie has been teaching for 31+ years with Abilene ISD. She taught Kindergarten for 24 years and is now teaching 2nd grade. Connie joined our staff in June 2007. Connie teaches Academic and Beginning Reading.
Jessica Morrow

ABOUT JESSICA:
Jessica is an Abilene native. She is married to Johnny Morrow who works for CC Distributors.
EDUCATION:
B.B.S. in Communication from Hardin Simmons University and has a M.A. in teaching from Texas Woman's University. She is a certified math teacher grades 4-12.
EXPERIENCE:
Jessica joined our staff in April 2007.
Janell Thomas
Instructor
ABOUT JANELL:
Janell comes to us from Sterling City, TX. She has 2 older brothers and a younger sister. She has a sister-in-law and 2 nieces. She loves to spend time with her family and friends.
EDUCATION:
Janell attended Angelo State University for 2 years and then went to Hardin Simmons University. She has a Bachelor's in Behavior Science and certified as Interdisciplinary Generalist EC - 4.
EXPERIENCE:
She is currently a substitute teacher. She joined our Sylvan staff in January 2009. She teaches Academic Reading, Beginning Reading, and Math Essentials.
Ellie Goldsmith
Facilitator
ABOUT Ellie:
Ellie is an Abilene native. Ellie has played the violin for 15 years and loves learning new instruments. Ellie also enjoys painting and writing.
EDUCATION:
Ellie Graduated from Abilene High School and is currently attending Abilene Christian University. She is a Music Education major.
EXPERIENCE:
Ellie was a head counselor at Sunshine Melodies Camp where she taught music, dance, and drama. She was a volunteer in the Communities in School program for 2 years and has taught bible classes at Highland Church of Christ for 6 years. She is currently teaching music at the Shepard School of Abilene, as well as working as a facilitator here.
