As the Center Director, Ann is available to parents and students to discuss program options, achievements and concerns. After your student's Initial Diagnostic Assessment, Ann will discuss Sylvan's recommendations and help get you started on the road to success.
I am a native of Colorado and grew up in beautiful Boulder, CO. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College and taught in a Core Knowledge school in Elizabeth, CO for six years. I was named assistant principal for a school in Castle Rock, CO and went to the University of Phoenix for my MA in Administration and Supervision in Education. I spent six years in that role and now am very excited to join Sylvan Learning Center as Director of Education. Knowing that all students can reach their full potential, I am looking forward to working with your student and watching their confidence grow!
When not at Sylvan, you will find me gardening, reading, or spending time with my husband, two grown children, and my granddaughter, who is the joy of my life!
Janet's education includes a BA in English from Cal Poly State University. She received her Master's Degree in the area of Curriculum/Instruction from Bethany College. Janet was the Director of Education in this center from 2005-10 and missed Sylvan and the kids so much that she returned in 2012 as an Instructor. Janet cares deeply about the success of each student she encounters. In her own words, "I LOVE IT"
My first teaching experience came at the early age of seven in rural Oklahoma. I lined up stuffed toys and dolls in my bedroom and imitated the style of information transfer I had witnessed from Mrs. Goings on my first day of second grade. I was a teacher in the public schools for three years. In 2002, I married and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where I was introduced to a new style of teaching in the local Sylvan Learning Center and soon became a Director of Education. I have been employed with the Highlands Ranch Sylvan Learning Center as a Test Administrator, Director of Education, and now an Instructor since my husband and I moved to Castle Rock in 2006. The transformation I have seen in the numerous students I have worked with over the last eight years makes me more convinced the Sylvan programs work. I have seen students walk in as scared, self-conscious, and defeated shadows of themselves. I’ve seen these same students complete the Sylvan program confident, optimistic, and ready to take on the world. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to see these positive changes take place in your child.
I have been at Sylvan for over 10 years, 7 as a Director of Education in Culver City, CA and the last 3 in Highlands Ranch as an instructor. I love the children and find satisfaction in watching them grow and achieve academic levels that they thought were beyond their capabilities.
My husband and I love living in Colorado, and Highlands Ranch, and even better our grandchildren live a short 5 minutes from us.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, I studied psychology and French at LSU. At 21 I married my high school sweetheart and moved to Shreveport, where I finished my degree at LSU Shreveport. In January of 2010, we, as wide-eyed pioneers, finally uprooted and settled near our beloved Rocky Mountains. Since March of 2010, I have worked at Sylvan and enjoy substitute teaching as often as possible. One thing to know about me is that I value relationships. Not even backpacking in the wilderness can compare to how I feel about people. I love teaching because I love the people I work with: the students and the staff. At Sylvan, it is a privilege to watch students' confidence grow as they master skills. What a joy to be a part of those changes!
I am a recent college graduate from the University of Wyoming. This is my first teaching job, but not my first teaching experience. Throughout high school and college I was a camp counselor at a Boy Scout summer camp. I really enjoy the outdoors and all of the great activities Colorado has to offer. I look forward to showing your child the amazing world behind mathematics.
My beautiful wife, Michelle, and I recently moved to the state of Colorado from Arizona. We have an Australian Shepherd, Toby, who is always active. I am committed to the belief that all students can learn, and it is my responsibility to ensure this gets accomplished through continual support and positive experiences.
I have taught students of all ages for over 40 years. I love teaching because it gives me the opportunity to help a young person grow and impact a formative mind in a positive way. It brings me joy, satisfaction, fulfillment and a sense of self worth.
