I have been an instructor at Sylvan for a little over two years. I enjoy working with students in both reading and math.
For the past 10 years, I have been an instructor at the Sylvan Learning Center of Fort Collins, teaching Beginning Reading, Academic Reading, Academic Writing, and SSAT. Before coming to Sylvan, I was an elementary teacher for MANY years. Most of those years were spent teaching second grade. I have always loved working with children! I am fortunate to have my family living close by. I really enjoy spending time with my three young grandsons. Other interests include spending time outside, walking, biking, bird watching, and container gardening.
Hi! I am Rita Davidshofer. I have been at Sylvan Learning Center for 11 years now and really enjoy my work with students. It is very rewarding to see them understand the material and master their work. My specialty is mathematics. I have a Master’s Degree in mathematics and extensive teaching experience at the high school and college level. I also tutor students in reading. In my spare time, I like to read (especially good novels) while enjoying a cup of tea, am addicted to Sudoku and other math teasers, do crossword puzzles, and play trivia games. I enjoy biking around Fort Collins looking for bargains while getting lots of exercise. My husband and I have four daughters and currently eight grandchildren. We both love traveling, meeting people and learning more about the places we visit. Also, I like to work outdoors weeding and trimming our bushes and flowers.
I have worked for Sylvan for about four years, both here in Fort Collins and in Los Angeles. I currently tutor Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Study Skills, and both ACT and SAT prep. I have taught both high school and middle school. As a full-time teacher, my main focus was History, but I also taught U.S. Government and Economics. I am a former U.S. Marine officer, and hold two Master's Degrees.
I was a high school teacher for 25 years. I have been working as a tutor for a little over three years. The subjects I tutor include Academic Reading, Academic Writing, Beginning Reading, Accelerated Reading, Study Skills, ACT and SAT prep, and Homework Support (Spanish and English). I enjoy reading, traveling, and the outdoors.
I have been at the sylvan Learning Center for three years working with students in all levels of math. I also teach the math and science portion of the ACT and SAT prep class. I also really enjoy helping students with their algebra, geometry, trig, pre-calc, statistics, chemistry and physics!
Before joining Sylvan, I was a senior scientist and product support engineer. I traveled quite a bit to Europe and several of the Pacific-Rim countries working with customers. I like to read and do Sudoku puzzles. My wife and I love to travel to Missouri and Michigan where our grandchildren live.
I am a retired secondary science teacher. I began teaching in 1980 and eventually shifted my science teaching to the elementary level. As an instructional lecturer I truly found my niche setting up science lab programs in elementary schools and coordinating the lab experiments with classroom lessons at all elementary age levels. I have been with Sylvan Learning Center for 3 1/2 years as a Lead Tester. I enjoy the fast-paced and detail-oriented part of testing, as well as meeting all the new prospective students.
I have been working at Sylvan for a little over three years now and it has been a joy working with all of the students here. I am currently a student at CSU working towards a degree in English Education. I enjoy reading, writing, sketching, and anything to do with being outside!
