Lawrence recently returned to Utah after graduating from Harvard University in May of 2011, where he majored in Neurobiology. Lawrence tutored fellow students while a student at Harvard, and he knew he wanted to continue tutoring upon his return to Salt Lake City.
When he isn't tutoring, he enjoys playing tennis, skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with friends and family. Lawrence is currently applying to medical school.
Lizzie recently relocated to Utah from Minnesota. She graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. Lizzie has taught at a variety of levels including high school in China, 4th grade, and now preschool here in Salt Lake City. She finds teaching to be very rewarding and loves her time at Sylvan getting to work with small groups of students and really getting to see them learn and grow.
In her free time, Lizzie loves to read, ski, explore Salt Lake City, and spend time with friends and family.
Ashley graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. She has been in classrooms working or volunteering for over four years in grades from preschool through high school. She is currently working in Canyons School District teaching fifth grade. Ashley loves spending time in the classroom working with a variety of different children. In high school, Ashley received tutoring from Sylvan and is excited to be a part of the Sylvan team as an instructor!
In her free time, Ashley enjoys hiking with her dog, Schmoo. She is currently working on her masters in educational leadership and expects to graduate April 2012.
Brittney graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Elementary Education and plans to continue with a Masters degree in Art Education. This past year, Brittney enjoyed her time teaching fifth graders at Orchard Elementary in North Salt Lake. She truly enjoyed her experiences learning each of her students personalities which helped grow her own love of teaching.
Brittney grew up in Utah and enjoys reading, water sports and anything to do with the arts. She also likes to hang out with friends and family.
Brittney enjoys planning the curriculum for each student as well as helping the teachers so that every student has a great experience while they are at Sylvan!
Since graduating from UMass Dartmouth, Maggie has taught both High School Human Biology and Middle School Math and Science. She moved to Utah in August 2006, in which she enjoys exploring the sites. She joined the staff of Sylvan in May of 2007. Maggie teaches advanced math as well as our ACT course.
Carmen has been with Sylvan for over five years in a variety of roles including Center Director and more recently, District Manager for Utah. Carmen has decades of experience as an educator and enjoys working with kids.
Carmen likes to fly fish in her free time.
Nick's passion for supplemental education came from his teaching work with Rotary International’s volunteer program where he helped students with their reading skills. Nick was a tutor of advanced mathematics at Wharton, part of the University of Pennsylvania.
Skene and his wife, Larisse, returned to Salt Lake City last year from Philadelphia.
Danielle is a senior at the University of Utah studying Metallurgical Engineering, and is planning to continue her education to include math. Danielle always knew she wanted to be a teacher despite the detour for an engineering degree. She misses the summers she spent teaching swim lessons every morning. She has experience tutoring math, science and the ACT prep program.
Danielle collects rubber ducks, loves to swim, and will read anything she can get her hands on.
Teri has a Master's Degree in Education. She started teaching in 2004 and has since worked with grades K-6. She is currently a Reading Specialist for the Salt Lake City School District.
In her free time, Teri enjoys baking, shopping, and scrapbooking.
