Sylvan's Albuquerque tutors teach skills that last a lifetime. We help students learn how to become self-motivated and achieve independence; above all else, we enable them to approach school — and life — with confidence.

We also maintain Sylvan tutoring special offers and seasonal promotions that make getting your child on the road to success easier.

Avoid Summer Learning Loss

Summer is right around the corner! It’s a time for changing the routines of the school year and a time for slowing down, but it shouldn’t be a time for shutting down.

Studies show that over summer break, children lose up to 2-1/2 months
of what they learned in school the previous year.
Don’t let “Summer Learning Loss” affect your child!

Make the most of the upcoming summer months and avoid summer learning loss by giving your student stronger skills for next school year’s challenges. Summer is a great time to help your child build the academic skills they need in order to ensure success for the next school year. Sylvan can develop a personal summer program just for your child that fits your summer schedule.

Go ahead! Lay the foundation for a better school year this summer.

You and Your Child's Report Card

What was your reaction to the last report card your child brought home? Joy? Disappointment? Confusion? Shock? Many parents (and their children) experience a range of emotions at report card time. And many parents are convinced that their child could be doing better in school, but just aren't sure how to help.

Sylvan's report card guide offers seven key pieces of advice for communicating with children to help them achieve academic success. Learn how to:

  • Maintain open lines of communication
  • Set goals with your child
  • Organize your child's academics
  • Regularly track progress
  • Identify trouble spots
  • Get to know your child's teacher
  • Celebrate your child's successes

Download your free report guide here.

Report cards enable parents to assess their child's academic progress and assess his strengths and weaknesses. They also provide parents an opportunity for further insight into their child's progress in school.

"When report cards come home, parents should discuss their child's progress and any changes from previous terms," says Richard E. Bavaria, Ph.D. and vice president of education for Sylvan Learning Center. "A report card is a communication tool and a reminder for parents to stay involved in their child's education."
