Mr. Tory Bonner

Instructor

My name is Tory Bonner and I am from Nucla, a tiny town on Colorado’s western slope, where we were a two hour drive from the nearest stop light or McDonalds. I was an adventurous lad with many interests, which I brought with me out into the larger world. My interests include: hiking, camping, reading, astronomy, rock hunting (fearsome beasts, be afraid) and games of every kind. I love to travel and see new places and in my travels I have been from ocean to ocean, from the Canadian border to the Mexican and visited most of the continental states (except the southeastern ones, being a mountain boy the humid heat does not agree with me). As I have accumulated experience (i.e. gotten older), I realized my wanderlust was a result of my love of learning. In my travels and intermittent education, I majored in Civil Engineering, Biology, Chemistry and ultimately in Mathematics. There are too many great things to learn to just choose one! I received my Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado in 2003. I returned to my home town to teach at the combined junior and senior high school where I taught seventh grade math through Trigonometry as well as Driver’s Education and Earth Science. While there I also coached wrestling and football which kept me in good shape because we didn’t have enough students to get through practice without three or four coaches as stand-ins. I came to New Mexico to work for a Geotechnical Engineering company in Farmington where I met a wonderful girl, Heather, from Kirtland. Heather is a Geologist and fellow explorer whom I love very much. We now have two beautiful blue eyed daughters, Alana and Aspen, and look forward to showing them the great places we have found and then finding some more.
