Sylvan On Line Success

"To Sylvan,

My name is Kristin Snooks and my son Cash used the Sylvan on-line service for a summer instead of summer school offered by the school district.
Cash is dyslexic and has a writing disability. We live in a small town and the nearest Sylvan Center was over an hour away. It was not logical for us to commute and spend that amount of time away from home during summer. We took advantage of the on-line service. Cash met on-line with an instructor 4 days a week for 2 hours. He loved it!!
The instructors were ALWAYS friendly and motivating. It allowed for one on one teaching for Cash. He has a headset, and writing pad. The curriculum allowed him to communicate with writing, verbal answers and multiple choice. His fifth grade year was his best! We know that it was because of Sylvan, and without the option of on-line, he would be struggling. We look forward to sixth grade for him, and we keep up with reading and writing year round at home. He also likes school more now and has learned that hard work pays off with good grades and praise from his family and teachers. He received the academic achievement award at the end of his fifth grade year. We have put lots of effort in at home, but could not have done it without Sylvan.

Sylvan Academic Reading Success!

"My son was diagnosed with an auditory processing disorder during the summer of 2009. Unfortunately, the school district does not recognize this as needing special assistance, when in fact, it truly does! This disorder makes it hard for children to learn in a noisy environment, which is exactly what the classroom is full of (25+ children)! His 1st quarter of 4th grade he was reading at a 2.4 grade level and most of his grades consisted of Cs, Ds, and Fs. We started him at Sylvan immediately attending 1-2 nights weekly. We noticed he started getting more responsible and organized with his schoolwork right away. By term 2 his reading level was at a 4.2 grade level--that's 2 whole grade levels in just a few months! His reading grade went from an F to a B to an A by the 3rd quarter! His Spelling went from a C to an A, Language Arts from a C to a B, and other subjects improved as well even though he was only having reading tutoring done at Sylvan! I am so thankful for the incredible teachers and Sylvan's learning system! I feel the foundation of my child's education has been set and stabilized for future success... What could possibly be more important than giving that to your child?"
