Success Stories
Passing Successfully"My son was failing 7th grade in the fall of 2007. During his October progress report, he had four fails. I had a meeting with his teachers and they were ready to test him for special education. When he was assessed at Sylvan, he was at the fourth grade level in reading. He has made about 2 1/2 years of progress in the year he has been at Sylvan. He recently brought home his eighth progress report and is passing all his classes with a 'C' or better. Not only has Sylvan helped to remediate my son's basic reading skills but has helped him regain confidence in himself. Reaching Standards"When my son began his journey at Sylvan he was reading two grade levels below standard. He attended Sylvan for four hours per week for approximately a year. Through his hard work and dedicated teachers, he was able to reach standards. He is now at grade level. The Joy of Reading"In the middle of first grade I started to notice that my son was having trouble reading. As the level of reading increased, he began to struggle. I started to get frustrated and he started to hate reading. I brough him to Sylvan and after the first 12 hours, I saw improvement. He would ask me to take him to the library and he would check out five books at a time.
