Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Pam Dyer
Executive Director
Pam has worked with multiple Sylvan Learning Centers for over eleven years. Her B.A. is in Business Management with a minor in Education. She loves seeing the success that attending Sylvan generates in her students.
Dorothy Burchfield
Director of Education
Dorothy Burchfield has been a member of the Sylvan family for over two years. Her experience includes six years as an Algebra teacher, ten years in education, and three years as an attorney. She has a B.A. and a J.D. from Boston College and worked on her multiple subject credential at Cal Poly Pomona.
Bill Woods
Teacher
Bill holds a BS in math from Ohio State Universtiy, a MPA from USC. He taught middle school math for LAUSD for 14 years. Students say working with Bill makes math fun.
Juanita Bergreen
Teacher
Juanita has her BS in Elementary Education from Utah State, and holds her teaching certificate from Utah State. She's been a Sylvan teacher for 10 years. She enjoys the opportunity to help students improve their understanding of reading and math.
Anita Finkelstein
Teacher
Anita has many years of experience teaching elementary students after graduating from Cal State Long Beach. She enjoys working with all ages, but especially likes our Beginning Readers.
David Zuniga
Teacher
David graduated from Cal State Long Beach with a major in mathematics. He enjoys watching his students grasp new concepts.
Marsha Casas
Tutor
Marsha has her M.A. in Education, specializing in Reading. She has experience working at multiple Sylvan Learning Centers. Marsha currently substitute teaches during the day and works at Sylvan in the afternoons. She enjoys using her experience as a Reading Specialist when working with Sylvan students.
Chelsea Anderko
Tutor
Chelsea has tutored at Sylvan since November 2009. She received both her B.A. in English Literature and her Teaching Credential through Cal State University San Bernardino. Chelsea has taught both middle and high school Language Arts since 2007.
Ana Moreno
Tutor
Ana has her M.A. in Educational Administration from Cal State Univerity Dominguez Hills, as well as her Multi-Subject Teaching Credential. She is a full-time Kindergarten teacher at Corona Ranch Elementary. Ana is a great addition to the Sylvan family.
