Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Jim Rogers
Executive Director/Director of Education
Jim has been with Sylvan since 1992. In 1995 he won an Educational Excellence Award and was Director of the Year. He served as Regional Director managing training, quality, automation and communication for six Sylvan Learning Centers. In 1997, Jim was hired by Sylvan Corp. as a Trainer for Sylvan University. During that time he trained over 500 Center Directors and Directors of Education from across the country. He joined the Santa Rosa staff in 1999. He lives in Santa Rosa with his family.
Laura Rogers
Executive Director/Center Director
Laura has been with Sylvan since 1995. She worked for a software development company which developed the center management software used in over 1,000 Sylvan Learning Centers across North America. She directed the legal and advertising for a group of five Sylvan Learning Centers in Texas. She was also a Center Director of the Sylvan Learning Center in Killeen, Texas. In December of 1998, Laura purchased the Sylvan Learning Center in Santa Rosa with her husband, Jim.
Maureen
Director of Education
Maureen has been with Sylvan since July, 2000. She has a Multiple Subject Credential and a Learning Specialist Credential. Previously, she taught K-6. Her favorite thing about Sylvan is being able to work with the teachers and the students.
Vicki
Instructor
Vicki has worked at Sylvan since August 2005. She has a Multiple Subject Credential. Her favorite things about Sylvan are the supportive staff, the many students who thank her when they have learned a new concept and the feeling that she is really teaching!
Rick
Instructor
Rick has worked at Sylvan since August 2005. He has a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and has taught 9-12, college and vocational education. His favorite thing about Sylvan is that the low ratio of students to teacher gives him the ability to actually teach so that the student understands.
Mike
Instructor
Mike has been with Sylvan since June 2000. He has a Masters Degree in counseling. His favorite thing about working at Sylvan is the committment from the kids and parents to succeed!
Anita
Instructor
Anita has been with Sylvan since October 2003. She has a degree in speech therapy and a Masters in Counseling and Early Childhood Education. Her favorite thing about working at Sylvan is getting to know the great kids who are on their way to making a mark in the world!
Kathy
Instructor
Kathy has been with Sylvan since February 2008. She has a degree in Elementary Education and a CLAD certification. Her favorite thing about working at Sylvan is seeing progress in individual students, especially when they have an "Ah-Ha!" moment.
Elise
Instructor
Elise has been with Sylvan for 7 months. She has a Bachelors in Liberal Studies and a California Teaching credential. She likes working at Sylvan because she gets to work with different students who come together with a common goal to learn and have fun doing it.
Kara
Instructor
Kara has been with Sylvan for 5 months. She has a BS in Mathematics and an MA in Education. She loves working with students in a small environment along with the positive atmosphere where students and instructors have fun learning and teaching!
