The Mini Sylvan Academic Writing Program has been designed to introduce and address specific skills and strategies for student writing at the elementary, middle and high school level. Carefully designed lessons and instruction from the Sylvan Academic Writing Program provide the student with opportunities for the following:
--Determining the purpose & audience for a writing assignment
--Brainstorming (for topics, subtopics, and details)
--Organizing ideas with graphic organizers (web cluster, outline)
--Writing a thesis statement that includes topic & subtopics
--Writing an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion
--Editing and Revising a paper
--Publishing a final draft
--Practicing the steps of the writing process with and without time constraints
The goal of this module is to "introduce" the student to more effective and efficient skills in writing either a personal narrative, research paper, or persuasive essay.

The goal of each module is to introduce the student to more effective and efficient skills in the chosen (goal-setting and organization & time management, note-taking and listening skills, or test-taking and reading & study strategies). The student can then apply these newly acquired skills directly to the classroom.
