Success Stories

Now I actually have study habits!

The Sylvan Study Skills program has totally reformed my study habits. [My teacher] started by teaching me how to take notes. I started taking notes in outline form, which makes it so I have to pay much more attention to what I am writing in order to organize the information. It also makes my notes a better tool to refer to. She also showed me how to...actively read, so I don't waste time.

One of the most significant changes I have made this year is using my planner. Last year I had lost my planner before the first day of school, and this year I practically can't function without it. It is so helpful for me to be able to remember my assignments, when tests are, make plans for long term projects, and see when social events will take time away from school work.

Dear Mom & Dad,

This year I think personally that I have improved alot in reading and in math. I think that it was all possible because of Sylvan. I know I say I don't like Sylvan because it takes up all of my time but the feelling of succseding is ten times better than all of the time I had to sacrifice. Inside I'm very greatful to go to Sylvan.

One of my favorite subjects in school is math. I love math. Right now I am learning how to add and subtract fractions. I'm really good at it. I'm also starting to like reading and writing because even though it does not feel like I'm doing anything different but I know I'm improving because I've been getting good coments on my essays from Mrs. M. One thing that I'm really looking forward to next year is theater and choir.

Thank You!

Just wanted to spread the good news...in the past week, our daughter has been accepted at both Oregon and Oregon State! That was not looking very likely before she started at Sylvan. Thanks for all the help.
