Center Instructor

You love to teach, and at SYLVAN LEARNING CENTER, teaching is what you thought it should be. Our 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio allows you to give each student personalized attention. Lesson plans prepared for you. Part-time positions available for certified teachers in math, reading, writing, algebra and study skills. Bilingual preferred. Flexible hours-evenings and Saturdays are a must. Current teaching certificate required.

We currently have a strong need for teachers able to teach upper level math (Algebra I-Calculus) and science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).

Director of Education

The Director of Education is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the Sylvan programs and instruction and also oversee the hiring, training and performance of the teachers. This will begin as .5 FTE position or approximately 20 hours per week.

Qualities and Skills:
*Must have a Bachelor's degree and experience in education.
*Must have full teaching credentials
*Prior successful sales and/or business experience
*Experience administering assessments
*Experience managing others, a positive leadership style and ability to demonstrate delegating, monitoring, coaching, counseling and teaching skills. He/she should be a self-starter.
*Articulate and ability to demonstrate effective verbal, written and non-verbal communication skills
*Ability to set and achieve goals and to develop and implement an action plan

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage and deliver ongoing conferences to maintain parent commitment to program and secure additional sales. Assist Center Director in conferencing with new enrollments, as needed.

Schedule staff appropriately to meet instructional demands and to maintain a 3:1 ratio.

Conduct monthly teacher meetings to make sure everyone adheres to instructional policies and procedures; conduct mini-training sessions, as needed.

Administer skills assessments; analyze testing results and complete summaries.

Write appropriate goals for students based on initial testing.

Administer progress tests and write progress reports accurately.

Contact teachers to discuss student progress before each parent conference.
