As our Sylvan's Executive Director, Michael is a firm believer in the empowerment of the student. Michael has a master's degree in teaching from the University of Puget Sound and has taught in the Tacoma and Puyallup public school districts. Michael has worked with students of all ages and finds that it is through literacy that an individual has the best chance to make an impact on his or her environment.
David is a skilled team leader and programmer in five computer languages as well as receiving a technical and training background from the Air Force. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Park College and is thrilled to have the opportunity to help children reach their fullest potential through the Sylvan Learning process.
Marre attended the University of Washington majoring in mathematics and chemistry before joining the United States Air Force. She spent eight years as a police specialist with a local law enforcement agency, focusing on identification records and domestic violence. Her skills in multitasking, documentation and project management are now devoted to the much happier task of scheduling our staff of teachers to meet our students' needs.
Nik, a native of Washington State, graduated from The Evergreen State College with a B.S. in Mathematics and minoring in Physics. He enjoys working with kids of all ages and has been tutoring for 3+ years with a focus on higher level mathematics. He believes that learning math isn't about memorizing equations as much as it is about strengthening reasoning and logic skills.
Kelly attended Washington State University for three years where she received her BA in Education, graduating Cum Laude. She has been a substitue in the HIghline School District for over a year and is excited to be teaching in the district that she grew up in. She is currently planning on getting her Masters degree and will be pursuing a Special Education endorsement.
Kasey earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from City University. She currently teaches fifth and sixth grades in the Kent School District. Kasey believes that getting to know the student and their learning style is essential to understanding how the child learns best. She enjoys working with kids of all ages and is especially excited to work with small groups of children on their specific areas of need.
