Chris began his career at Sylvan Learning in 1995. As the Executive Director of three Sylvan Learning Centers, Mr. Maki has witnessed firsthand the emergent need of supplemental education services in the area. As a parent of two boys, Mr. Maki has also experienced the effect of Sylvan's programs on his children's confidence and skills in math & reading.
Hi, I'm Kristin, the Center Director/Director of Education at Sylvan Learning of Bellingham. I've been working at Sylvan since 2006, where I started as a teacher, updater, and test administrator. In the fall of 2008, I became the Center Director/Director of Education.
I love working at Sylvan because I get to work with such a diverse group of students and families. Getting to know the personal and academic needs of our students is very rewarding. Helping students to achieve these goals is even better!
I graduated from Central Washington University with a B.A. in Education with a Reading Endorsement. Teaching has been my ambition since the 2nd grade. I had many great teachers throughout the years and always admired those who had genuine teaching skills.
In my spare time, I enjoy movies with my husband, photography, scrapbooking, and racing my car. I look forward to working with you to achieve academic success for your child.
Hi there, I'm Jessica, an instructor at Sylvan Learning of Bellingham. I joined Sylvan in 2007 after earning my B.A. in Elementary Education at Washington State University.
I love my work at Sylvan and am continually amazed at the progress our students make. I love teaching reading, math, writing, algebra, geometry, and homework support. Seeing my students become more confident is so satisfying.
Having moved from S. California to Bellingham, I also substitute in many of the local school districts. The instructors at Sylvan are such a gifted group and make the work so much fun!
Hello, I'm Morgan, an instructor at Sylvan. I earned my degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Science at Western Washington University. I am continuing my education and working on my Master's degree in Reading and Literacy. I also substitute in the local school districts.
I love working at Sylvan because they make learning fun! My greatest Ah Ha moments are when the student smiles and says, "I get it!" I teach reading, math, writing and study skills.
When I'm not teaching I enjoy curling up with a good book, playing soccer, hitting the slopes, or listening to music. Hope to see you soon!
Hi, I'm Julie, a teacher at Sylvan Learning of Bellingham. I graduated from Pacific Lutheran University with a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught Pre-school, Kindergarten, and 2nd grade at private schools in Tacoma.
At Sylvan, I teach reading and math. I enjoy working at Sylvan because I like helping children achieve their goals and because it's a fun place to work.
In my free time, I enjoy reading and spending time with family and friends.
Hi! My name is Michael Steffan. I grew up in Renton, WA and spent most of my time volunteering through my church. I just received my degree in Mathematics in the spring of 2010 and am currently working towards my teaching certification. In addition to working at Sylvan, I teach Sunday school at Garden Street Methodist Church and I teach sailing at Lakewood on Lake Whatcom. I am also a part of the Big Brother Big Sister organization. I love sailing, rock climbing, baseball, and of course, teaching.
Hi! I'm Andy. I am currently going to WCC and starting in the fall of 2011 I will be attending WWU to finish my degree in Physical/Health Education. I am originally from Gig Harbor, Washington and moved to Bellingham two years ago. During the summer I love to go hiking, skimm boarding, or my favorite passion, long boarding. I love working at Sylvan because I have the opportunity to meet so many great kids!
Hello, my name is Lindy Rebro. I grew up on the hills of Eastern Washington. From the 3rd grade on I vowed to become an educator like one of my favorite characters, Laura Ingles Wilder, from the Little House on the Prairie books. I went on to graduate from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education and an endorsement in Elementary Education. I currently work as a substitute teacher in a few local school districts. I have also worked as a camp counselor, resident advisor, ski and wakeboarding instructor and private tutor.
Sylvan provides a positive learning environment where students can grow and achieve their best. I love being a part of the Sylvan team.
Hello, my name is Kyle Fugier and I am a teacher here at Sylvan in Bellingham. I graduated from Western Washington University in 2010 with a BAE in English-Elementary with a K-8 teaching certification. I specialize in the intermediate grades but enjoy helping students of all ages wherever I can-more specifically with writing which is a passion of mine.
In my time away from Sylvan, I substitute teach for Bellingham, Lynden and Meridian schools. I love playing guitar, soccer (the real football), outdoor adventures, reading, and appreciating and creating art.
Hi! My name is Monica, and I am a teacher at Sylvan Learning Center here in Bellingham. I graduated in December 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in English-Elementary Education and a Reading Endorsement. I really enjoy teaching at Sylvan because I have the opportunity to work with a great group of students, and it’s extremely rewarding to help them learn and reach their academic goals.
Along with the work I do at Sylvan, I also work as a substitute teacher in the Ferndale School District. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors (hiking, camping, and swimming), relaxing with a good book and spending time with my family and friends.
Hey there! My name is Will Cameron and I am one of Sylvan's many fine teachers. I graduated WWU with a BA in English Literature and just finished my Post Bac. secondary teaching degree at Woodring College of Education. Though I majored in the Middle and HS grade levels, I thoroughly enjoy teaching our beginning readers at Sylvan. Seeing the progress our students make during their time at Sylvan is rewarding and fun for both the students and the teachers.
Outside of Sylvan I like to run, climb, hike and bike. Pretty much anything that gets me outside.
I believe your child will love the positive and fun environment we create at Sylvan, and I hope to see you there!
Hi! I am McKenzie Price, a teacher at Sylvan in Bellingham. Education is
something I have always been passionate about. From the time I was seven
years old playing "school" with my younger siblings, I knew teaching was
what I was meant to do. I received my B.A. in Human Development focusing on
Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Washington State University in
2009. Since then, I have had the opportunity to teach preschool, tutor, and substitute teach as well. I recently relocated to Bellingham and split my
time between Sylvan and subbing in many of the districts in the area.
In my spare time I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, swimming, reading and
teaching myself new skills (learning to cook has been an adventure). I also
have an immense passion for traveling and learning about other cultures and
hope to soon extend my travels to Eastern Europe.
