Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
- Pinpoint your child’s learning needs using the Sylvan Skills Assessment®
- Develop a personalized learning plan based on your child’s goals
- Offer unique insights about what will work for your child
- Teach each lesson the way your child learns best
- Build a relationship with your child to provide learning that’s fun, engaging and rewarding
Randy
Center Director
As Director, Randy enjoys being the person to introduce students and parents to Sylvan. "I enjoy helping students and parents find answers to their needs".
Randy has been teaching for 6 years and holds a Master's Degree in Education.
Sarah
Center Director
Sarah is our Center Director. Her favorite part of working with students at Sylvan is the individualized attention they each receive.
Sarah has worked at Sylvan for 8 years, starting as a teacher and is now our Center Director.
Her favorite pastime is reading and traveling. If you know of any good books, please let her know!
Sarah has a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.
Barb
Director of Education
Barb is our Director of Education here at Sylvan. Her favorite part of teaching is watching the kids become successful and confident.
Barb has been with Sylvan for 11 years. She enjoys working with students and parents.
She has a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Sara
SES Director
Sara works mainly in Supplemental Education Services, but you will also see her helping out around the Center.
She loves working with Teachers and other locally-minded Tri-Citians in the community.
Sara has Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Sociology, and has worked in education for many years in Washington, Oregon, and the Dominican Republic.
Danielle
Instructional Aide
Danielle is our Instructional Aide.
She loves being the first one to greet the kids every day!
She also enjoys helping the students reach their potential.
Danielle is currently in school earning her Business degree.
Mina Jo
Instructor
Mina Jo has been with Sylvan for 11 years. Her favorite part of teaching is, "no grades, no lesson plans, watching the kids progress and most importantly, seeing the 'light' come on."
Ken

Ken's favorite part of teaching at Sylvan is that the students are all so motivated. They have a positive attitude towards learning and they work hard.
Seth

Seth's favorite part of teaching here at Sylvan is the moment when the concept "clicks" with a student. This is when all the student's work pays off.

Her favorite part of teaching here is getting to know each student and seeing progress, not only academically, but emotionally as well, as their confidence increases.

Loves working one on one or two or three! She loves the friendly, helpful staff that is so patient and kind when she has a question.

Susan likes interacting with students and staff, watching students grow into confident, independent learners. She loves the AHA moment of the students.

Brian really enjoys showing people the easy way through problem solving. He has been a teacher for 10 years.

Laura loves teaching math! She likes being able to work with students in a small group setting in order to get to know them better.

He just finished earning his Master’s Degree in May, and he loves math!
