Melissa has worked with the Burlingame team since July 1999. Born and raised in San Francisco, Melissa graduated from Lowell High School and San Francisco State University.Melissa obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from San Francisco State.
Antoinette has worked with the Burlingame team since October 1998. Born and raised in San Mateo, Antoinette graduated from San Mateo High School and Hayward State University. Antoinette obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and a Multiple subject Teaching Credential.
Lauren joined the Burlingame Center in May 2010. She is a native of New Jersey who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the University of Maryland, and Special Education credential at Rutgers University, before settling in California. She holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education; Autism Certificate, Mild/Moderate and Moderate Severe Educational Specialist Credentials from San Francisco State University. Lauren brings to her position at Sylvan over 10 years of experience as a teacher. Currently, she is a special education teacher in San Francisco.
Jesse Brown has been with Sylvan since March of 2008. He holds a credential as an education specialist, as well as a Master’s Degree in art and history from CSU, Chico. He also obtained his undergraduate degree from Chico. His language studies have included Spanish and Italian. While having studied in Italy for language and cultural studies, he had the unique experience of understanding what it takes to study and use a foreign language in an uncomfortable environment. The same can be said for his language skills in Spanish since he frequently travels to the Central American country of Panama. Some of the variety of subjects that he has taught at the high school level have included English, World History, US History, Economics, US Government, as well as helped to run a student leadership organization.
Stephanie Finch
Stephanie has enjoyed working as an instructor at the Burlingame Center since 1998. Born and raised in Los Angeles CA, Stephanie obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies at California State University Northridge. She earned her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with a Language Arts, Middle School Emphasis from San Francisco State University. In addition to teaching, Stephanie is an active musician in San Francisco.
Koren joined the Burlingame Center in December of 2008. With a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Dartmouth and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from M.I.T, Koren has helped many Sylvan students prepare for private high schools or college. Areas of focus are: math, biology, essay writing, SAT Prep, ACT Prep, SAT subject exams, and AP exams.
Since June 2008, Rohayah has been the Burlingame Center’s lead math instructor. Rohayah received her Mathematics Degree at the University of Florida, and her single subject math credential from San Francisco State University. Many students have returned to the Burlingame center just to work with Rohayah, in order to prepare for final exams, the SAT, ACT, and SAT math exams.
Joining the Burlingame Center in September 2011, John is an enthusiastic and compassionate instructor. John has a teaching credential for math, general science, and history, along with 14 years of instructional experience in middle school and high school. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in History and Natural Science, then pursued his teaching certification and MAS in Leadership at Concordia University. John uses a sense of humor to develop a rapport with his students. This allows him to understand their learning style; one of the many reasons that makes Sylvan and John a great match!
