Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Alan Shipman
Centre Director
Alan works full time as joint owner of the Charlottetown Sylvan Centre with his wife Vicky. As Centre Director he takes care of the operation of the business but also enjoys working with the students whenever he can! Alan worked as an Operations Manager in the UK and has an engineering degree.
When he isn’t at work he likes to run and work on his ex-army landrover that he brought with him from England.
Vicky Shipman
Director of Education
Vicky works part-time as joint owner of the Charlottetown Sylvan Centre with her husband Alan. As Director of Education she is responsible for the educational progress of students and also teaches math to high school level.
She has a degree in mathematics and a Master’s degree in education. Before she moved to Canada in 2005 she worked as a junior high/high school math teacher in the UK for almost 20 years.
In her spare time she enjoys scrapbooking and spending time with her three cats.
Riki Lee Sulis
Director of Education
Riki works as Director of Education ensuring that every student’s program is right for them and that they are making the best progress that they can. She has degrees in education and in science and enjoys teaching chemistry, biology and math up to high school level.
When she isn’t at work she enjoys crafts, cookery and buying new shoes.
Sandy Rendell
Literacy Coordinator
Sandy has worked in PEI as a classroom teacher, in resource facilities and for the PEI Literacy Alliance. Since joining Sylvan part time she works to ensure that our students’ individual learning needs are being met, particularly in reading and language development.
