"This letter is meant to express my deep appreciation for what you do. I am writing to let you know how very pleased I am with the supplemental education my son Nicholas is receiving at Sylvan. My child has had great success with both reading and math. Initially, Nicholas struggled with reading that he chose not to read. "I am so pleased with how well Kristen has done with Sylvan and the difference it’s made with her confidence level when it comes to Math. After graduating Middle School, I was concerned about how she would handle Math in Grade 9 and adjusting to high school too. So I turned to Sylvan for help. With the staff’s guidance and direction, Kristen gained a lot of confidence and enjoyed learning Math, a subject which she struggled with for awhile. That summer she would come home after ever class and tell me something new she had learned and how happy she felt about her achievements. Help is available, even if your child is behind!

"After Grade 7, we realized that our son would be entering Grade 8 about two years academically behind in his core subjects. We switched schools and arrested the progress of his downward slide, but he still had a lot of work to do to be prepared for High School. Private tutors in the home had not worked due to household distractions. After researching tutoring institutions and listening to recommendations made by friends, we opted to give Sylvan a try. By the end of Grade 8, my son's comprehension was at a Grade 5 level and his math was similar. Jimmy listened to our dilemma and worked with us to devise a learning plan to catch our son up to the academic standards required to enter high school by the end of the summer. The plan was aggressive and Jimmy took his profession to another level. He worked diligently with us and with our teenage son to help him cope with the many Sylvan hours he faced and the hard work he needed to do. The time and effort we invested paid off. Our son is succeeding in High School! Thank you to Sylvan and a special thank you to Jimmy for your help and dedication to a boy who now has the confidence to know he can be successful!"

Sylvan helped our daughter reach her potential

"We always knew our daughter had the potential to be a great student. We did everything in our power to support her. We provided her a quiet space to work and ample time to complete her homework but something was still holding her back. Something we could not provide her. So we turned to Sylvan for help. At Sylvan our daughter learned not only to improve her focus while she worked but also to go beyond the question on the page and interpret what the teacher was really looking for in her answers. Now she not only answers the question literally but goes beyond and offers perspective and insight in her answers. Her academic performance has improved incredibly (practically straight A’s) since attending Sylvan but more importantly her approach to school is much more positive and confident. Helping High School Students

"When my son completed Grade 11, he was struggling in math. If he wanted to succeed in Grade 12, we knew that he would need tutoring over the summer. Sylvan Erin Mills was able to tailor their teaching techniques to suit his needs and gave my son the knowledge and confidence to do well in Grade 12 math. My son has been going back on a regular basis to Sylvan Erin Mills for help in other subjects and has been able to succeed with the help of the tremendous staff. "Our 15 yr old son was struggling in High School. He is a well adjusted child, but needed some extra help to ensure his marks were where they needed to be as we look toward being accepted for university, let alone pass to get his diploma. We had always seen the ads for Sylvan, but we tried other avenues to get him some help. We should have listened to the ads and sent him to Sylvan first, instead of wasting money elsewhere. My son always commented after class how much he enjoyed learning there and the teachers that guide him. They are also very patient with our busy family schedule that sometimes needed to be changed. I appreciate all they do and have done for my son."

"We enrolled our son at the local Sylvan Learning Centre at age 6. We had concerns about his academic readiness and the comprehensive testing conducted by Sylvan confirmed our concerns. "My son is nine years old and has been attending Sylvan for almost 3 years. In grade 2 he had problems reading and writing. Sylvan was a miracle for my son and I. He's now in grade 4 and his grades are in the 90's and 80's and he has all the confidence in the world. I recommend Sylvan to so many of my friends whose children are experiencing trouble in school. I thought I was going to die the day his teacher told me he should be held back and only after a month of Sylvan he was doing better.
