Arshdeep Shinh

Director of Education

Arsheep was born and raised in a north western state of India. She attended Sacred Heart High School in India and continued with college majoring in Physics and Mathematics. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Math from India and finished her Masters in Physics at San Francisco State University. She has been with Sylvan for 5 years as an instructor and then moving into the role of Education Director

Marjorie Engquist

Instructor

Marjorie has been with the San Bruno Sylvan for three years as instructor and lead teacher. She is a transplant from Kansas where she taught for 34 years. Marjorie taught first, second and third grade for 11 years, and middle school math and science for 23 years. Marjorie has a Bachelor of Science degree from Pittsburg State University in Elementary Education, a Master’s of Science degree in Curriculum Administration from Benedictine College. “I really enjoy living in the Bay Area and working with the students at Sylvan. It’s very rewarding to be able to help our children reach their educational goals.” –Marjorie Engquist

Bob Lindeborg

Instructor

Bob holds a BA from Notre Dame de Namur University and a Master’s degree from San Diego State University. Bob served as a government analyst for over 27 years. In addition, he has worked as a college instructor in technical and business writing, a grant writer for government and non-profit organizations, a diversity trainer, and both an agency-employed and private tutor. He currently teaches beginning reading, academic reading, academic writing, math essentials, and study skills for Sylvan Learning. He also works as a part-time school district aide with children with learning challenges and those with severe to moderate autism.

Daina Flores

Instructor

Daina has been with Sylvan for one year. Outside of her services at Sylvan, she has taught first grade, kindergarten, and third grade over the past five years. For the past ten years, she has also been a summer camp director. She earned her Masters of Education, Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and Bachelors in Liberal Studies at San Francisco State University. Much of her free time is spent grant writing. Her education, experience, and interests enable her to provide excellent support in the Academic Reading, Academic Writing, and Beginning Reading Programs.

Margret Skaug

Instructor

Margret has been teaching at Sylvan for 4 years. Before moving to the Peninsula Margret taught at several private schools in Berkeley and Walnut Creek. Margret was educated in England and before moving to California, taught at American and International schools in Sweden, Italy, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates and Norway. She has also lived in Canada working with political refugees teaching English as a foreign language. Margret values the experience of working with a diverse student body.” –Margret Skaug

Chris Thibodeaux

Instructor

Chris grew up in South Carolina and has lived on the Peninsula since 1996. He also lived for a year and a half in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico and spend time with family in Mexico whenever possible. Chris speaks and writes Spanish fluently, using this skill frequently in his other job as a social worker in a medical clinic. Chris enjoys cycling, reading, and watching movies. He enjoys a collaborative learning process. “Kids teach me something new at every session, and this inspires me to learn to become a better teacher. Eric Nowlin

Instructor

Eric attended UC Los Angeles and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Geophysics. After graduation, Eric worked as a software engineer for two years. Eric went back to school to obtain a Masters in Physics. Eric has worked at Sylvan at a math instructor for three years.
