The tutors of Torrance Sylvan Learning Center are all Sylvan trained and certified so that they can best address your child’s academic needs. Our tutors are dedicated to working closely with you and your child in order to help your child reach his or her goals. We start by pinpointing your child’s strengths and areas for improvement through the Sylvan Skills Assessment®. From there, our Torrance staff develops a personalized learning plan for your child and offers unique insights about what methods will work best with your child. Ultimately, our tutors will build a relationship with your child and provide a fun, engaging, and rewarding learning environment. The Torrance Sylvan Learning Center staff consists of highly experienced and established educational professionals who take great pride in their work with students who want to catch up, keep up, or get ahead.

"As a Sylvan teacher, I have the rewarding experience of assisting in the academic growth and development of students. Teaching on a one-to-one basis not only provides the opportunity to get to know the students better, but also to contribute to their individual learning goals and overall educational success."
Gina graduated from Marymount College with an A.S. in Biology in 2006. She is currently working on her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at CSULB. Gina really loves to teach at Sylvan because she enjoys working with all the students.
"I have seen first-hand how effective Sylvan's program has worked both as a parent and now as a tutor. As a classroom teacher I couldn't always know whether I was reaching them, but with a 3:1 ratio, I can immediately see the 'A-ha' moment." Doris has been teaching at Sylvan for 21 years and retired after 38 years working for LAUSD teaching grades 1st-8th.
