Successful applicants must:
- possess teacher certification (i.e. BCCT)
- be proficient in teaching reading, writing and math.
- be available to work a minimum of twice a week
Shifts include:
Monday-Thursday: 3:45pm-8:00pm
Saturday: 11:45am-5:00pm (not during summer)

This position is well-suited for college/university students seeking part-time employment (i.e. approximately 5-10 hrs/wk). A Teachers' Assistant (also informally called a "Puller") is typically responsible to the Centre Director and the Director of Education for a variety of administrative support activities, including preparing the educational materials for instruction.
A Teachers' Assistant:
* Assists in monitoring students anytime that they are in the centre, but particularly during instuction and at the end of the instructional session. Monitors students if they have to leave their class to use the washroom.
* Pulls the educational materials and supplies for each instructional hour so that teachers and students have what they need to work without interruption.
* Monitors and stocks the Sylvan Store (our positive reinformcement system).
* Helps with light administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and taking messages.
* Ensures order and cleanliness of the centre.
** Note: other duties may de added as necessary.
A Teachers' Assistant must:
be a quick learner
be detail oriented
be organized
be able to work under time constraints
be a team player
be friendly
have legible penmanship
