The Sylvan FamilyFondo is a 3km cycling event within Fort Langley for children ages 6 to 12. In a kid-friendly mass-start, participants (with their parents or guardians at their side) are going to get the full cycling experience. The Sylvan FamilyFondo is staffed with many volunteers to ensure all of our young cyclists are safe, supported, and having fun! The route is flat and offers absolutely no interaction with traffic plus, at the 1.5km point, an aid station will provide the young athletes with the fuel they need to reach the finish line. The Sylvan FamilyFondo not only celebrates family, but the exciting sport of cycling!
Included with each Sylvan FamilyFondo registration is:
- A goodie bag
- Unparalleled on route support and a police escort
- A kid-friendly aid station
- A finisher’s medal designed by the Kwantlen First Nation
- A Panago pizza party
- Kid-friendly cycling themed festivities
Following the Sylvan FamilyFondo, participants will take part in a fun, family-oriented lesson offered by the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition that will give them the skills necessary to safely ride their bikes. On a closed course, the kids will learn about basic bike safety while improving their bike handling skills. They will also come to understand the importance of respecting the rules of the road through instructor-led stations comprised of drills and cycling tips. Sylvan FamilyFondo participants will complete this session confident in their abilities as road cyclists.
