Stephanie Basinger
Executive Director
Stephanie Basinger is a native Texan, born and raised in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Texas Christian University and has over 30 years of diversified business, management, and marketing experience. Stephanie was drawn to the Sylvan Family because of her love for children and education. Stephanie states, "The professionalism and consider-it-done attitude of Sylvan is an added bonus of being part of the Learning Center Family!" Her FAVORITE part of Sylvan, in her own words, is "Sylvan works miracles daily and I love being a part of that!"
Stephanie's responsibilities include marketing and Center growth, daily oversight and management of the Center, working with the surrounding communities and districts on NCLB contract services, and more.

Cindy Brunworth, BSE
Regional Education Director
Cindy has been with Sylvan since 1995. She has an elementary education degree with an emphasis on math. She started her career with Sylvan as a part-time tutor and then quickly moved into the Director of Education position. She served 7 years as Director of Education at the Arlington Sylvan. When the Center Director then Regional Education Director roles became available, she moved into these roles. She loves working with the staff, parents, and students at the both the Sylvan Burleson and Arlington locations.
Martha Runnels, M.Ed.
Program Manager
"I came to Sylvan with 15 years of teaching experience including public, private, charter and home-school situations. I have taught most elementary grades at one time or another in my career and have enjoyed most of those experiences.
I earned a B.S.E. with a concentration in Children’s Literature and a M.Ed. in Elementary Language Arts from the University of Houston.
I take pleasure in spending time with my daughter who is currently away at college. We enjoy the beach, white-water rafting and reading.
I love to sing in my church’s choir and listening to whatever choir my daughter is singing with at the time.
I have also worked at the Fort Worth Zoo teaching classes and summer zoo camp and leading groups in the overnight program. I have been enjoying that for 8 years.

Stephanie Hardee, BA

ABOUT: STEPHANIE HARDEE
Stephanie Hardee is from Joshua, Texas. She has three younger siblings that she loves supporting at extracurricular activities such as baseball games, choir concerts and band activities.
Education:
Attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas. She has a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Special Education and is certified in EC-12th Special Education. Experience: She did her student teaching in 7th – 12th grade Special Education Resource Math, Language Arts, and Lifeskills. Stephanie has been at Sylvan since August 2011. Interesting Fact: Stephanie loves going bowling with friends and family. In her spare time she enjoys going to the park and doing yoga
Whitney Davis, BA
Instructor
About: Whitney is from Fort Worth, Texas. She is married to Brad, who supports her though all she strives to do. She has three nieces and one nephew, who she enjoys spending much of her free time with. In her spare time you'll find her baking, working to perfect her photography skills or gardening. Education: She earned her Associates degree from Tarrant County Community College in Early Childhood Education. Then, continuing on with her education at Tarleton State University, receiving a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. Experience, subjects & How Long with Sylvan: She completed her student teaching in kindergarten and 3rd grade at a Burleson elementary school. Whitney has been with sylvan since September 2011. Interesting Fact: Growing up, Whitney travelled throughout the southern states showing American Quarter Horses in western pleasure.
Deron Meehan, BA
Instructor
About: Deron Meehan Education: Attended Youngstown State University, where he was recruited to play college hockey. Attained a BA in Electrical Engineering with dual minors in Math and Computer Science.
Experience: He has worked as an Engineer for the State of Texas for 7 years and has tutored upper level math for 5.
Interesting Fact: Now lives in Burleson and owns 4 Boer goats and a white Labrador named Marshall.
Maureen Meehan, BA
Instructor & Tester
About: Maureen Meehan Maureen is from Austintown, Ohio. She moved to Burleson, Texas in 2008. She is single and has one son, Deron. Education: Maureen attended Youngstown State University, Youngstown, Ohio. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Early Childhood/Reading) and is certified in Pre-K through 4th grade which includes all subject areas. Experience: Maureen has taught Kindergarten in Ohio, tutored reading/comprehension and math – all grade levels, and currently is a substitute teacher. Maureen has been with Sylvan since August 2011.
Interesting Fact: Maureen likes hockey, and writing children’s books.
Julie Lacy, BS

About: Julie Lacy, Teacher’s Assistant Julie is from Fort Worth, TX. She has 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 nephews and 1 niece. Education: Julie holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. Experience, subjects, & how long with Sylvan: Julie was the Teacher’s Assistant in the math department at College of the Ozarks as part of a work/study program. She has also tutored college algebra, calculus, and other math subjects while attending college. Julie has been with Sylvan in Burleson since July 2010.
Interesting Fact: Julie loves Science! She also enjoys watching sports.
Jerretta Henderson, BS

Jerretta is from Fort worth. She is married to Rodrick and they have 2 children, Jeremy and Jayla.
Education:
Attended Texas A&M university in College Station, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Science in health and is certified in EC-4 and special education EC-12
Experience, subjects & How Long with Sylvan:This is her 5th year as a teacher at a FWISD alternative school where she has also served as a testing coordinator. Jerretta has been at Sylvan since feb 2011.

Jerretta likes spending time with her family.
Darla Bird, MSEd
Instructor
ATTENDED LAMAR UNIVERSITY IN BEAUMONT, TEXAS AND GRADUATED WITH A B.S. IN SECONDARY EDUCATION. ATTENDED BAYLOR UNIVERSITY IN WACO, TEXAS AND GRADUATED WITH A M.S. ED IN CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION.
Experience, subjects & How Long with Sylvan:
TAUGHT AT THE SECONDARY LEVEL FOR 13 YEARS. FOR THE PAST 8 YEARS WORKED AS AN EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSTICIAN. TEACHES BEGINNING READING, ACADEMIC READING, AND BASIC MATH. HAVE BEEN WITH This SYLVAN SINCE MARCH OF 2011, but have worked at another.

Yvette Criswell, MBA

About: Yvette Criswell
Education: She has an MBA from West Texas A&M University.
Experience: She has taught for 33 years in the areas of Business English, adult secondary, ESL, Community College, Tehran American School. She has also worked for the Defense Department.
Yvette has been with Sylvan since 2010. She teaches Academic Writing and Academic Reading.
Interesting Fact: Yvette is involved in local politics in Joshua, TX.
Susan Henderson, BS
Instructor & Tester
About: Susan Henderson
She is married to Bob Henderson. They have 2 children. Whitney is a senior at ASU and Garrett is a junior at TSU.
Education: Attended Tarleton State University with a Bachelor of Science in Education.
Experience: She is Dyslexia Certified and a Reading and Math Specialist, K – 5. She has been with Sylvan since 2008. Susan teaches Beginning Reading, Math and Academic Reading.
Interesting Fact: She loves watching the minds of children grow and blossom with different experiences and exposures.
