Center Instructor

**As of April 2012 - We are actively hiring for new part time instructors. We prefer candidates that are available several days per week starting at 4:20pm.** Most teachers work between 4-10 hours per week based on their availability and student demand.

Note: All Sylvan teachers are required to possess a state teaching certification (current or expired). Exceptions can be made only if the teacher is qualified to teach upper level math subjects, such as Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.  

As an Instructor at Sylvan, you’re primary responsibilities are:
Just Teaching. No Lesson Plans. No Preparation.

As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group, 3:1 setting. You will provide personalized instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Study Skills, SAT/ACT prep and State exams to students of all levels. Day, evening and weekend opportunities.

As a successful Instructor, you will:
•Deliver Quality Education
•Teach using Sylvan based programs
•Supervise and motivate students during instruction hour while they work with equipment and materials
•Reward students for completed assignments
•Evaluate and document student progress
•Communicate student needs to the center manager

Inspire Students:
•Develop rapport with students and establishes a fun learning environment
•Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

We require:
(FIRST- The ability to work at 4:30pm or 5:30pm on some or all weekdays if possible and/or on weekends during the school year and mornings or evenings in summer.)
•Bachelor’s degree
•Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience
•State level teaching credential or certification (current or expired, not required for upper level math Instruction)
