I Learn A Lot of New Things at Sylvan!""When Tara came to Sylvan, she was having problems with her fluency rate and her self esteem was low. I enrolled her in the program to help fill the gaps of her reading strategies and comprehension. It was the first year she would be taking the TAKS and she already doubted herself that she would pass. Sylvan in Frisco was able to pin point the skills she was lacking and brought her through fourth grade level in her reading skills. In this time, I witnessed more and more positive self-esteem that was nurtured by such caring individuals who knew she could succeed. Tara did a fantastic job on her TAKS test and even proved to herself that she really could accomplish the reading skills needed to be a great reader. This has given her an improved attitude towards reading. I am thankful that we were able to be part of this wonderful program.” - Jodie Bowe, Tara's Mother |

I FEEL SMART!"“Christopher was constantly behind and playing catch-up in all subjects. He was getting frustrated, and it was showing in his attitude and behavior. He was also easily distracted at school. This not only affected his grades, but his whole outlook on life. It was hard as a parent to watch. His school tutoring wasn’t as affective as we would have liked, so we knew we needed to get him additional help. - Mary, Christopher's Mom and Christopher Rhodes |

Perfect 100% in Math Benchmark!"The summer leading into 2nd grade left Mom and Dad concerned about Ridge’s skill and confidence levels. While they did not feel he was far behind, they wanted Ridge to enter 2nd grade feeling well-prepared for math. Although his math skills were not posing a great challenge, they simply did not want their son to begin to struggle. Once we assessed Ridge’s math skills, we found a few skills gaps in his math foundation that posed a threat to his success in the 2nd grade. As he progressed in his customized program, Ridge was able to work through his skill gaps and move quickly toward his goal and in the process he gained confidence in his math abilities. Ridge has started second grade ahead of his peers in math. His teacher was proud when Ridge received a perfect score of 100 on his math benchmark! - T.J and Berkley Estes, Ridge's Parents |

Growing By Leaps and Bounds!"Mathew Mason made a deal with his dad at the beginning of summer. He wanted to get up to speed with his reading abilities, since he knew he was at a pivotal moment in his academic career as he was getting ready for college! His dad brought Mathew to Sylvan in Frisco. Through a detailed skills assessment we found out that not only did he need practice on his reading skills, he was actually two grade levels behind. He and his dad sat down and set a goal for Mathew to grow his reading level in order to be caught up to his current grade by the end of the summer. Over the course of the next few weeks Mathew not only gained the skills to be successful in his reading, but he was also gaining confidence in himself and his abilities. When it came time for him to take the progress assessment to measure Mathew’s academic growth in reading, he knocked it out of the park! He had improved not just to his current grade level, but TWO levels ahead! Mathew now has the skills to be prepared for his original goal and he is college-bound! His dad has seen a dramatic improvement and had this to say, "I am so thankful for the help Sylvan has provided my son! I am excited to see that Mathew has surpassed his expectations so soon. Thank you."" - Quote by Mathew's Father |
