Sylvan went to meetings with me at my son's school!

"Michael Huizing is what Sylvan is all about! Michael came to us from another state and tested at grade level, but had some skill gaps that needed to be filled in. The family also needed some help getting information on the local school system. After a summer of hard work he is ready to go on to the 4th grade!

His mother stated that, “Sylvan really takes time and gets to know your child. They are accommodating and help a lot when you go to meetings at the school because they go with you and you’re not alone.”

George Can Read Now!

"George has been coming to Sylvan all summer and has achieved so much! When he came in he was not able to read and now George is reading a new book every day. He has grown two grade levels in math and his handwriting has improved by leaps and bounds.

When asked how he felt about Sylvan he said. “I love Sylvan because they have toys and gift shops. I can spend my tokens when I learn and I like that we don’t have the homework like we have at school.”

"Densmore is a small package that has a powerful academic punch. He attends private school that keeps him ahead and comes to Sylvan just as a refresher when school is out.

"Ramie Long attended Sylvan for help in reading. She was struggling with reading and the TAKS test. Ramie enrolled in our Sylvan Academic reading program and started to make big improvements. She completed her program at Sylvan and upon doing so is a better reader, has more confidence, better grades and she passed her TAKS test! Ramie is now on the A/B honor roll and continues to do well in reading!"

Jason

"When Jason started coming to the Killeen Sylvan he felt like school and homework was the worst thing his mom could make him do. Jason would not finish his class work at school and his mom would have to sit with him while he did his homework to keep him focused. Things have improved greatly for Jason. He is more independent and will do his homework without complaining. Jason is reading more fluently and his comprehension has improved. Jason even made the A & B Honor Roll at school."

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their commitment and dedication to excellence. My daughter Takiya came to Sylvan Learning Center because she was having a hard time in her math class. She took the assessment test and it was discovered that she had a lot of skill gaps and she was below her grade level. A personalized plan was developed to help her build and master those skills. The plan that was set up by the director Mrs. Edwards was the perfect one. Takiya passed the TAKS math portion for the first time and she raised her level of knowledge and comprehension up to her current grade level. Sylvan inspired Takiya to learn and reach her full potential. Thanks very much for the positive attitude and confidence that was instilled in my daughter. She has improved in all of her subject areas in school after completing her personalized plan at the Sylvan Learning Center in Killeen.

“Truly Amazed”

"We first met Stephen in March 2008. He was in 3rd grade and struggling in school. His math and reading were both at a 1st grade level. In just six short months at the Sylvan in Killeen, Stephen is now at a 4th grade level in reading, and a 5th grade level in math—a year ABOVE his school grade!
Stephen’s teacher at school noticed a huge difference in Stephen and how eager he is to learn now. Stephen’s mom, Vickie, said, “I am truly amazed at how much Stephen has learned. I am so proud of Stephen’s willingness to learn.” Stephen’s progress at Sylvan has been amazing!"

“Wonderful Change”

"When we first met Michael, he was at a 2nd grade level in math, and a 1st grade level in reading. In just 36 hours at the Sylvan of Killeen, he improved 3 grade levels in math and 2 grade levels in reading. Michael has really connected with his teachers at Sylvan, especially Mrs. Virginia. He is always striving to learn new concepts.

"April and her mom talk about their experience at Sylvan in Killeen, Texas.
April said, “Sylvan helped me in math. When my fifth grade teacher asked me how to add and subtract fractions, I already knew how because Sylvan taught me before my math teacher did. Sylvan is the best place to be.”
April’s mom, Erika said, “Sylvan taught April reading and math. She was at a 2nd & 3rd grade level when she came to Sylvan in February ’08. She completed Sylvan in September ’08 at a 6th grade level. Sylvan taught my child that there is hope. She can look towards the future.”"

Very Successful

"Our daughter, Kennedy, was having a difficult time reading when she was in first grade. My husband and I decided to take her to the Killeen Sylvan to get her help. The time spent at Sylvan was very successful. She is now reading level 12 books, which are right on target with second grade.

Through The Roof!

"Before I started at Sylvan, I had horrible grades—almost all D’s and F’s. I couldn’t focus on school because I was distracted by boys, shopping, and my friends. After a really bad report card, my mom chose to sign me up for Sylvan.
When I started, I didn’t want to be there every night for two hours because I thought it was a waste of time. As I spent time at Sylvan, though, I progressed. I built my vocabulary and strengthened my math skills. Each time I took a progress test, my scores went through the roof.
I started to apply the skills I learned at Sylvan to my schoolwork, and my grades started improving! After learning at Sylvan, my grades were A’s and B’s. Thank you, Sylvan; you made the difference in me!"

Marvelous Turn Around

"In the brief period of time that my daughter has been attending Sylvan not only have her grades gone up but so has her confidence to work on her own. Even being Dyslexic, Sylvan has really helped her excel in math and reading. My daughter has made a marvelous turn around and our family could not be happier with the progress she has made. It's Working!

"Taylor left Sylvan a few nights ago, waving a math assignment in his hand. He jubilantly showed it to Rhonda, a family friend, and exclaimed, “It’s working! Look what I did at Sylvan, all by myself!” Rhonda was amazed at the long division problems Taylor showed her, thinking she would have had a hard time doing them if someone had given them to her.
“Taylor is so much more confident now. We can really see the difference Sylvan is making in him. You are making a difference in him now, for the rest of his life,” Rhonda said proudly.

"When Joshua started coming to the Killeen Sylvan he was struggling to pass most of his classes and was making a low C in math. Josh was not motivated and his parents had to stay in constant contact with his teachers to ensure that he was completing his homework. Now Josh is thriving in his classes at school and recently made a 90 on an Algebra test at school. Mom has seen Josh’s confidence improve and he is completing his assignments independently."

"When Tre came to the Killeen Sylvan he was reading below grade level, had a hard time decoding words, and was frustrated with reading. Tre needed help with his homework every night.
