Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
Milt is responsible for the administration and management of four local centers--Torrance, Gardena, El Segundo/Manhattan Beach, and Rancho Palos Verdes. He has been associated with Sylvan since 1990.
Michele's educational background includes 7 years as an elem. school teacher in the NYC School system, 6 years as a reading resource teacher on the Island of Bermuda and has now been with Sylvan for over 20 years. As Dir. at Large Michele assists with the training of new staff members and helps to ensure that the quality of the Sylvan researched programs are maintained & updated.
Michele has a B.S. in Education from St.John's Univ of NY, & a M.S. in Special Education from Adelphia Univ of NY.
Maria is a recent graduate from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), where she earned a B.S. in Biology. Her hard work and determination helped Maria to graduate at the top of her class with Magna Cum Laude honors. Because of her exemplary G.P.A. (grade point average), Maria proudly received an Award of Academic Excellence in Biology. Ultimately Maria aspires to become a medical doctor. She has been teaching with Sylvan since April 2008. Maria currently teaches Math Essentials, SAT/ACT Math, Sylvan Advanced Math, and Homework Support (Biology, Chemistry, and Pre-Calculus). Maria’s passion for math and science has made her a great Sylvan teacher. She enjoys teaching all levels of math, with students of all ages.
Mariko is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach (CSULB), where she earned a masters degree in Applied Math. She has been a Sylvan tutor since February of 2009. Mariko has several years experience teaching math. She has taught at both the university and community college level. At Sylvan, Mariko currently teaches our Math Essentials and Sylvan Advanced Math programs, as well as upper-level math in our Homework Support and SAT math. When asked why she loves teaching math, Mariko says it’s because she really loves helping people understand math. In her spare time, Mariko enjoys the great outdoors. She loves snow boarding, scuba diving, bike riding and really anything fun.
Flor has been working with Sylvan since 2009. Last summer, we were happy to have Flor transfer to our R.P.V. center from the Gardena Sylvan Center. Flor is currently a middle school English teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Flor comes to us with many years of experience in education. She worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for seven years, and has been teaching with L.A.U.S.D. for the past three years. Flor earned her B.A. degree and Multiple Subject teaching credential from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Flor teaches learners of all ages here at Sylvan, and teaches a variety of subjects including: Academic Writing, Academic Reading, Beginning Reading, and Math Essentials. When Flor is not teaching, she enjoys going to Dodger games, and shopping online -especially with E-bay.
