Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:
Sherri graduated from Western Washington University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. Sherri has always worked with children and before joining the Sylvan Team, she worked for the YMCA. In her spare time, Sherri enjoys reading, movies and the occasional video game. She also enjoys spending time with her family, husband Mike and daughter, Stephani. Sherri believes that it takes a village to raise a child and she wants Sylvan Learning Center to be part of your child’s village!
I was born and raised in California. I have lived in Orange County, near Disneyland, the Sacramento area, and Crescent City; where the redwoods meet the sea.
I have a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism. Nine years ago when we moved to Washington, I returned to school and earned my teaching certificate and Masters in Education. I have since taught second through fifth grade. I am currently teaching second grade at Elger Bay Elementary on Camano Island. I have been at Sylvan since November 2004, when it first opened in Stanwood.
I am married and we have five grown children. I enjoy cooking, dancing, reading and traveling!
I love teaching and helping children! It is wonderful to see the light bulb come on when they “get it.” It’s exciting and rewarding to see students grow and gain confidence.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Education from Washington State University in 1968. I taught seven years at Sammamish High School and two years at Stanwood High School. I was employed by Arlington Christian School and Grace Academy as an elementary/junior high teacher for 25 years. I was continually involved in coaching football, basketball, soccer, track and field, and golf. Currently, I am a guest teacher in the Everett, Marysville and Stanwood School Districts.
I have been teaching Language Arts and World History at Stanwood Middle school for the past five years. I enjoy middle school immensely, and don’t envision myself working in any other capacity for a long time.
I am now running an alternative middle school classroom on the Church Creek Campus at Stanwood High School which is a challenge.
I have a B.A. in Education from Western Washington University and continue to seek out education opportunities through professional development workshops and seminars from universities and the state superintendent.
My personal interests include writing and performing music with my guitar, reading and writing. I’m currently working simultaneously on two novels for young people, which I may even finish someday!
My reason for coming to Sylvan was to allow me to supplement my income doing something I enjoy--teaching kids.
I was born in California and have lived in a lot of places including Connecticut, Rhode Island, California (San Diego, Long Beach, and Monterey), Louisiana, Hawaii, and Washington. I have lived in Stanwood since 1999 with my husband and four sons.
I am currently finishing my Bachelors degree in mathematics and secondary education at Western Washington University. I will be student teaching in the fall and then plan to teach high school mathematics, hopefully in Stanwood.
I enjoy gardening and collecting math books!
I graduated from Washington State University in 2004 with a degree in elementary education. I currently teach as a substitute teacher in Stanwood Camano School District.
I was raised in the Pacific Northwest, but I have lived in many states. I have called Utah, Nevada, Alaska, and Idaho all my homes. During that time, I was a dental assistant, school bus driver, and art teacher for the University of Alaska.
I have three grown children and enjoy playing and spending time with them. My other interest and hobbies include traveling, art and crafts, treasure hunting and my chocolate lab.
HI! I’ve recently landed on the shores of Puget Sound from California by way of Arizona. I bring with me an 8 year old daughter named Celeste, a teaching certificate in Adult Education and a BA in Communication from Arizona State University.
This is my second time working at Sylvan Learning Center. I worked for nearly 3 years as a teacher in Bullhead City, Arizona’s Sylvan. I seem to find my way to organizations like Sylvan because of my ability to connect with students on their level. My favorite thing about Sylvan is how it allows for that kind of connection. I have been an educator for over ten years in traditional and not so traditional settings, including; community colleges, Sunday Schools, charter schools, the Boys and Girls Club, a pre-school co-op, an Indian Reservation, Mommy and Me, nutrition education and a zoo instructor. Now that I make Washington my home, I will continue to facilitate others’ learning and learn a few things about the Northwest!
