Meet the Tutors
Our Sylvan trained and certified tutors are dedicated to your child’s success. Working together with you, we will:

Denise Defrehn
Center Director
Denise has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, with concentrations in English and Music from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After college, Denise went to teach in Seoul, South Korea, where she found out that she loved traveling and learning about new cultures. Then she settled here in Fort Myers, teaching third grade and Spanish for six years. Out of all of these things, her greatest achievement is her son, Micah.
Cortney Anderson
Assistant Center Director
Cortney holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin, where she studied Chemistry and Psychology. She enjoys teaching SAT/ACT, Advanced Math and Advanced Reading. Cortney's varied interests include volunteering, traveling and painting.
Ashley Rensch
Director of Education
Ashley has taught in the classroom for six years and loves helping students succeed! She is a state certified teacher, has a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. When she is not working, Ashley enjoys the warm Florida weather and spending time with her husband and son.
Jill Del Rio
Teacher/Test Administrator
Jill holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Edison State College with an ESOL and Reading Endorsement. She is a vibrant and energetic person who motivates her students to achieve and smile!
Allouise Skehan
Teacher
Ms. Allouise holds a Masters of Science from the College of New Rochelle in New York and has over 20 years of teaching experience. This highly requested teacher improves her students skills and confidence with each instructional hour! She is such a positive influence on everyone at Sylvan!
Mary Jo Jacobs
Teacher
Mary Jo has a masters degree from Ball State University. She is certified in K-6 and L.D. She enjoys working with Sylvan's little ones and seeing them eager to learn.
Carolyn England
Teacher
With a B.S. in Chemistry from Upper Iowa College, Carolyn has helped many students strengthen their confidence in learning!
Ursula Baldwin
Teacher
Ursula graduated from the University of Michigan with a Master's in Education. Ursula's compassion for students is evident when you watch her teach. She is a positive influence on us all!
Glenn Rogers
Teacher/SAT/ACT instructor
Glenn is a certified teacher who enjoys teaching our upper level math programs and our college bound SAT/ACT students!
Ginny Winte
Teacher
Ginny has a Masters degree in child development and family relations from the University of North Carolina and is National Board Certified. She has over 28 years of teaching experience and still loves it!
Susan Ricci
Teacher
Susan hold's a Masters in Special Education and has her certification in Elementary Ed. Susan speaks Spanish and has been teaching for 17 yrs.
