Kayann Boutell-Bock, B.S.
Executive Director and Director of Education
Kayann Bock is the Executive Director/Co-Owner of the Eau Claire Center and has proudly been with Sylvan Learning for 12 years. She has personally worked with thousands of area students and is passionately committed to education throughout Western Wisconsin. Along with her great team of committed educators, she strives to uphold the best of mastery instruction for those who struggle or need enrichment.
Kayann is a certified Wisconsin and Minnesota Teacher. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with minors in English & History at Winona State University. She also holds a specialty license in Middle School Education.
She is happily married to Corey (below) and has a seven year old son. As a family they love to travel, canoe and ride bike.

Lori Placke-Wirth
Partnership Coordinator
Lori Placke-Wirth is a Community Partnership Coordinator and Program Manager for Sylvan. Beyond her many roles in center managing programs, she also provides free learning seminars to parents and schools regarding College Prep, Math, Beginning Reading, and more.
She is a certified teacher and has been with Sylvan for 3 years. Lori earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education.
She is happily married with two teen daughters. In her spare time, she enjoys being active outdoors (preferably in hot weather) and most of all loves being a great mom!

Corey Bock, B.S.
Executive Director
Corey Bock is the Business Manager of the center. He and his wife, Kayann, work closely together to ensure the best educational programs available for students in Western Wisconsin. Corey partners with area schools and ensures that Sylvan of Eau Claire remains on the cutting-edge for quality programs.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of River Falls. In his past, he successfully farmed and worked for implement dealers, but finds more satisfaction in running a business like Sylvan.
“I love offering Sylvan services to our schools and area students because it is truly a positive learning place where kids' lives change. I really feel good about being a part of providing something so beneficial to the community too."
Erin Kremer
Center Assistant
Erin Kremer is the Center Assistant. For the past 5 years, she has worked mostly behind-the-scenes helping with systems, testing, and office duties.
She is also a Certified Teacher working in the Chippewa Falls School District. Erin earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education and Social Studies from the University of Eau Claire. She has taught in Arizona and the Eau Claire School District.
In her spare time, she enjoys cooking new recipes, spending time with friends, and the outdoors.

Nicole Lamb
Instructor
Nicole Lamb is a part-time reading, math, and study skills teacher at Sylvan for the past year. She also teaches in the local school district with elementary students.
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Science Education from University of Wisconsin - Whitewater and is pursuing a Masters in Reading and Literacy.
Nicole loves spending time with her family and is just beginning a family of her own! She loves kids and spends a lot of time with them outside of the classroom.
Allison E Benson
Center Assistant /Certified Test Administrator
Allison Benson has been with Sylvan part-time for 8 years as a Center Assistant. Most recently, she works as a "Care Coordinator" where she helps the Directors ensure quality programs, service and partnerships. Allison also assists with test administration, and the students LOVE her!
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with minors in Teaching English to Speakers of Foreign Languages, Language Studies, and Global Studies from the University of Eau Claire.
She is also a recent bride and excited to begin expanding her new family. She is a self-proclaimed "foodie" and loves living a positive, happy life!

Ivy Hartman
Instructor
Ivy Hartman is a local area teacher who has also been with Sylvan of Eau Claire for 10 years! Ivy is a very dedicated teacher and ensures that each student receives quality, motivating instruction.
She earned her Elementary and Special Education degree, works as a sixth grade teacher and has taught for than 20 years locally!
Ivy is married with three grown daughters and has two lovely granddaughters. She loves baseball and is still an avid player.

Beth Ernst
Instructor
Beth Ernst is one of students' "most preferred teachers" at Sylvan of Eau Claire. She is a Certified Teacher and has been teaching at Sylvan for more than 7 years.
Previously, she worked locally as a middle school teacher and now works part-time teaching while staying busy taking care of her two young boys. Beth is married and enjoys scrapbooking, cooking and getting together with friends to play games. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education in English and Mathematics at Winona State University.

Nicole Pederson

Nicole Pederson is a versatile multi-age teacher of math, reading for all ages, and study skills at Sylvan for nearly 6 years.
She is very committed to making sure her students LOVE learning new concepts and LEARN.
She earned a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in math.
She is married to Cory, a local pilot, and they have a young daughter and a school-age son. Nicole enjoys running, taking care of her kids and is highly committed to ensuring motivating relationships with kids.

Megan Hotujec
Instructor
Megan Hotujec is a reading, math, study skills and writing teacher at Sylvan. She has taught for more than a year here since coming back to Eau Claire from teaching in Arizona.
Megan is a Certified Teacher and is also currently pursuing a degree in Dentistry.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out, the outdoors, and reading.
Dianne Dow
Instructor
Dianne Dow is a Certified Teacher of 9 years with Sylvan. She has earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics & Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Education. She lives in Eau Claire with her two children.

Emily Sutherland

Emily Sutherland has been a Sylvan Teacher for nearly 9 years. She specializes in early reading instruction as well as study skills and math. She holds a teacher degree from Winoan State University. Students love Emily and she is a most-preferred teacher by students of all ages.
She is married, has three children and lives in Eau Claire. She is active in church and is a great baker!
Marc Olberding
Upper-level Math Tutor
Marc Olberding leads our Homework Support students that are in need of help with AP course work and upper-level Math. He is currently enrolled at UWEC pursuing an elictrical engineer degree. Marc is super smart and a natural teacher! He has 100% student satisfaction!
Lindy Bergman
Teacher
Lindy Bergman specializes in reading and math instruction. She is highly energetic and quite versatile in her teaching methods. Currently, she is also pursuing her degree in education at UWEC; and she is fully certified at Sylvan to teach our academic programs.
Lindy handles general reading instruction to advanced math as well.
Sarah Davis
Teacher
Sarah Davis is a reading and math teacher who works regularly with third - seventh graders. She has been with Sylvan for nearly 6 months. She is detail-oriented and motivates students superbly. Sarah also works as a substitute teacher and a Clinique cosmotologist.
Lessa Scherrer
Teacher
Lessa (Lisa) Scherrer is a reading, math and study skills teacher who is also a former Sylvan parent. She has led a gifted-and-talented program in the local district and has homeschooled her own children successfully. She desired to teach here because she wanted to "give back" after having received help at Sylvan. She is very smart, thoughtful and effective AND a great addition to our staff!
Tami Yeager
Teacher
Tami Yeager is a Sylvan Teacher who recently rejoined our staff from our first year here! She's an expert reading, general math, and study skills teacher who has a talent for being adaptable for all learners. She is warm, caring, fun and very knowledgable. She was recently re-married and has a wonderful 7 year old son and two new adorable step-children. She enjoys Nascar and family time.
Ashley Brown
Center Assistant
Ashley Brown is our part-time Center Assistant responsible for coordinating materials, assisting teachers, leading student activities and many more administrative duties. Ashley is currently a UWEC student pursuing a degree in marketing. She is from the Twin Cities area, is an avid hockey fan and loves kids!
