Megan Vogias

Center Director

Megan graduated from Kent State University in 2006 with a BA in Communication Studies. This past spring she earned a Master’s in Education. Her experience in education is found both in the community, classroom, and corporate America; working with students ranging from preschoolers to adults. Megan’s drive and passion to see students grow academically and gain confidence is only matched with her willingness to work with each family to find a solution that meets their needs and goals.

“There is nothing more rewarding then seeing a student have that “aha” moment, where they understand both the concept and the application. I look forward to creating many “aha” moments for students, and inspiring that confidence that sparks a lifetime love of learning.” -Megan

Jessica McCurdy

Teacher

I am a graduate of Malone College with a degree in Middle Level Education. My degree is focused on the areas of Math, Reading, and Social Studies. I have begun coursework towards a Masters Degree in Special Education, with the goal of learning more about working with students who have specific learning disabilities. My employment with Sylvan began in March of 2007 as an instructor. I quickly grew to love the positive atmosphere as well as the opportunity to meet our students’ specific needs at their own pace. Working for Sylvan is very rewarding, because I am able to be instrumental in the process of helping students reach goals they thought they could not attain. I also love giving high fives to celebrate a success with a student!

Angela Mowery

Teacher

I have a degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Math and Science. I enjoy the one on one interaction at Sylvan. It gives me the chance to explain a topic in several different ways. Seeing a child's face light up when they "get it" makes all of the hard work pay off.

Mary Burch

Teacher

I graduated from Kent State University in 1994 with a B.S. in Secondary Education, specializing in English education. I taught in a private school for seven years and am thrilled to be back working with children. There is just something so special about experiencing the learning process with students and sharing those moments when all their hard work comes to fruition; being a part of the Sylvan staff and helping students learn and grow is a very rewarding experience.

Nick Martin

Teacher

I graduated from the University of Akron in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I am certified to teach Math, Reading, and Social Studies. I previously worked at the Sylvan in North Canton. As a college student, I was an active student leader on campus and had the chance to travel to many cities across the country, including St. Louis and San Francisco. As a teacher, I love seeing kids smile when they learn a new way to do something. I love it even more when kids show me how to do something differently or come up with new ideas on their own.

Steve Fasig

Instructor

Steve has a Bachelor of Science in Education (Integrated Social Studies) from Ohio University. He started his Sylvan career in October, 2011. When Steve is not at Sylvan, he enjoys coaching football and baseball. His favorite thing about teaching is, "The feeling of reward I get when a student reaches their 'A-HA' moment."

Samantha Guglielmo

Teacher

I graduated from the University of Dayton in 2009 with a degree in secondary education with a concentration in Language Arts. Teaching is a great way to work with students and help them grow academically. I am glad to have the opportunity to work at Sylvan because I get to meet new faces and help students become confident, capable learners.
