Sylvan Learning has updated its Writing Camps! In these small-group camp programs, students in upper elementary and middle school will have the opportunity to practice their writing skills in a meaningful, engaging way. In each updated camp session, students will work to compose, edit, and publish real-world materials, such as websites, persuasive letters, and works in various literary genres. Students in grades six through nine will have the opportunity to review and practice the skills that comprise the critical foundations for Algebra in a meaningful, engaging way. In each camp session, students will work on skills from one or more of the seven domains presented on the Fit 4 Algebra website. The domains are comparing and converting coordinate graphing, decimal operations, fraction operations, geometry, integer operations, and ratios and proportions. Because of the small-group dynamic, game and activities will be an integral part of the instructional process. Each hour will include an opening activity designed to reinforce prerequisite skills, a teacher led interactive instruction activity to present and reinforce a specific skill, an interactive application activity that will reinforce the new skill learned, a group activity where the new skill will be applied, and a concluding Learning Log activity.
